UPDATE: The problem was me. I thought the cable that came with the iPad Pro was a usb 3 cable. It is not. I tested the SSD drive with Black Magic Speed test and that cable only gets 30mb/s as opposed to the 600 I get with the cable that came with the sandisk.

You should take this video down.

@@thestagerocks To me even if you don't take down the video, its misleading as you used the wrong data cable and data transfer speeds affected the test. Also try using the internal drive and render. I suggest you do a test with a proper use of cable or use internal drive and then do a follow up video rather than leaving it as saying its trash.

This is a problem with USB port on M1 mac.
@thestagerocks3 жыл бұрын
@@Fletch_Rides That doesn't make sense. I posted an update. Does the display screw up every time the Mac goes to sleep? Yes. Does blootooth drop every 30 or hour? yes. Are there enough ports? No. Has the M1 alienated a lot of software devs? Yes. Also...the problem with editing was the cable AND the fact that Final Cut did not in fact copy the files though told to do so but referenced them from their original location, hence the un-rendered files working and the rendered ones not. Maybe I'm spoiled but this is Windows 10 levels of irritation. ON TOP OF THAT!!!!....one suggestion for the bluetooth issues was to reinstall the os. Well guess what happened? The mini was bricked for two days till I figured out I had to plug the USB C cable I was using for DFU mode into and out of the port on the mini. A fact now well documented thankfully otherwise I'd still have a paper weight. This post is only dishonest if I fail to disclose the fact that the external drive problem was one of my own doing. Which I've done.

UPDATE 2: OK I'm keeping the video up though I do absolutely understand why FletchDyna thinks I shouldn't. So no hard feelings I hope. And, I got some of my plugins to work. Your tried and true plugins will most likely not be validated when installing. (AU plugins.) This is in reference to plugins that ran on intel versions of Big Sur and not M1 versions. Go to the plugin manager and find the failed plugins and click and rescan till they're validated. Keep clicking! I clicked once on one and three times on another. Both by the same dev. Next. Some plugins get completely ignored. Reset your Mac and then look for them in the plugin manager.

Why keep a video up with such a harsh title if its completely misleading. Make a new video documenting your mistake instead of users like me looking for real world reviews of the M1 and by chance reading the comments only to find this video Is false....

No Worries bro. To me if you had a follow-up video with fixes would be good but I think you have gotten a lemon and should get a replacement. You mentioned AU I assume you are using an Audio editing software for Music. I wont update to Big Sur as my Presonus Studio is not supported yet. I am really interested to see if you managed to fix these issue as I am thinking of getting a M1 Mac Mini for video editing

@@LucidComposureUk Did you read my updates? If so, the title, though based on my own error, still worked. I may have been overly angry when I made the video but that doesn't change the fact that this thing is going back to BestBuy. If you record audio...wait for the second generation.

@@Fletch_Rides I have a Focusrite Interface that works on my intel Big Sur MB but not on the M1. Focusrite ended support and any and all updates back on Catalina? I did have to jump through hoops to get Mixcontrol to work on Big Sur but it's a total no-go sofar on the M1 running the same software. Though the Mac has been warning me about the TC Technologies driver for a long time now. I did get some of the plugins to work as mentioned in update 2 but I have not tried Toontrack, Ozone, or EastWest. A lot of the complaint is about computer recording as a whole but I'm certainly pining for Windows long-term driver support right about now. As for video editing? Changing the USB cable fixed the drive issue. I have 30 days to return the mac to BestBuy. We'll see if an update fixes the display calibration and app icon rearranging BUT...I actually found comments online of those two things dating back to Catalina. The 11.1 update did fix the inability to restore the OS.

Of course it's nothing all these shills are advertising. It's a 15W ARM chip, thefk did you expect from it? While the basic video edit is more than likely caused by some limited bandwith of your drive or other glitch, the M1 will severely struggle if you do more advanced edits. It's absolutely not meant for any professional person.
@thestagerocks3 жыл бұрын
The editing was a cable error. My USBC cable was not actually capable of varying the necessary bandwidth.

It's a problem with the M1 chip in general. The M1 struggles extremely hard to output proper signals due to lack of bandwitdh, tons of professionals are complaining about the lack of full YUV color range and such. granthshala.com/asia/several-restrictions-on-the-monitor-output-of-the-apple-m1-took-the-mac-ezzo-into-consideration/
