The M8-FXR is DOWN! and we get the 91

Hey, I recognize those fork tubes...I was the top bidder on them until the end and let them go because I also thought the Til Death Cycles damper rods would get me 2 inches over. Boy was I upset when I built my new dual disc front end, only to find out I'm still not tall enough in the front and needed those tubes that I let go lol. I was even more bummed when I watched more of your content and saw that you had already documented the fact that the damper rods weren't enough. It's all good though. I ended up with Pro-One 26.25 tubes, TDC damper rods, preload adjusters and Progressive springs for the front end and I actually love how tall it is now (14.25 rear shocks as well). Glad you were the one to get them so we could see you get the front sorted for good (hopefully). You've got a beautiful FXR there, good luck with it!

Haha. I knew it had to be someone looking to lift a fxr. And yeah, it’s still not as tall as it was in the front but the clunk is gone and the bike rides greats so I’ll mess either way it again down the road. Hopefully the convertible still has its stock tubes and I can get it back to stock height at least

Was it just the clunking noise you had issues with or was it really stiff too? I just rebuilt my front end, and the only thing I’ve changed is the fork tube and now they’re so stiff it’s almost uncomfortable. I spoke to race tech and they’ve pointed the finger at the check valve in the fork tubes. I don’t want to but I suspect I’ll have to buy new genuine tubes. Or try to find them anyway.

Even with the stock springs, it was still too stiff while riding. In the driveway, it had smooth operation, but would suck while riding. I took those same guts, with the same weight oil and placed it in the genuine tubes and now it’s almost too soft. I think what was happening was the damper rods were binding causing them to not move freely under riding conditions. Andy seems to thing I can take them apart, and replace that inner bushing that I believe was causing the clunking. I haven’t looked at the DS tubes to see, but a factory tube has a large C-clip that keeps it together, I want to pull it apart to measure it all if I can to see what is going on. If I end up doing so, I’m sure I’ll mention it in an upcoming video. But yes, there’s something in the tube that was causing it to be stiff along with the clunking sound. I bought the tubes brand new so that’s why it confuses me as to what’s going on with them

@@Me.MyMachinist.and.l i ended up putting preload adjuster caps and reduced the preload to almost nothing. It’s still go way too much damping on compression and rebound. I’ll keep an eye out for your next videos, but I think I’ll have to put new tubes in
