If height is an issue for you, you can replace the stock 13" read shocks wth 11.5" long shocks which will lower the bike substantially. Also, Corbin seats seem to also help me reach the ground since they are lower and not as padded BUT still a comfortable saddle.

Sometimes the world can be very small . Finding a video on YT of the very bike I bought 15 months ago , comes as a big surprise to me . I have done a six day road trip with it just after I bought it and it never missed a beat , or a fuel station for that matter , but I absolutely love this bike . Never got tired on the trip and that little screen works surprisingly well at any speed . The most appreciation I ever had for a motorcycle in my 42 years of riding .

Many years ago, I put over 100,000 miles on a Valkyrie. The only thing it needed (aside from plenty of rear tyres, brakes and servicing) was a new clutch, which was fitted at around 90,000 miles. These bikes were not only powerful machines, but very well-built and extremely durable. On the downside; continual hard acceleration and prolonged periods of high-speed riding, only yielded around 24mpg. On the plus side; the sound of that fabulous flat-six snarling at full-throttle, was nothing short of a mechanical symphony! Awesome bike...

Rocky Mountain Ras I was in the market for a Goldwing but happened to see a Valkyrie on Craigslist. I had never heard of one so I did some research on the bike to find overwhelmingly positive reviews. So I went to see the bike, took it for a test ride and could not give him my money fast enough. What a kick ass bike! I’m so glad I pulled the trigger on a Valkyrie instead of a Goldwing.

Just bought my 3rd Valkyrie. It's a 99 standard. Needed lots of TLC. Fork seals, carb job, etc. But it rides like a dream. I keep looking for a better bike at the same price point, but can't find one that will last as long, ride as smooth, carry as much, look at good, and accelerate as well as the Valk.

I had one of the first Valks in Northeast Indiana shortly after they hit the market. Absolutely a show stopper. Lots of former riders would talk to me about their bikes - Had a Honda 250 and that was enough Reply, This bike has 6 250cc engines all on one crank shaft. 6 cylinders, 6 carbs, 6 exhausts. Another talked about his old 500. Reply, a 500 twin - yep, the Valk has 3 of those. Old Triumph 750 Trident motor. Reply, Yep- the Valk has equivalent to two of those engines. On the way out of the ice cream shop lot I couldn't resist doing a stand up rolling burn out - in second gear. What a beast!!

Two of the bikes I've owned are Japanese cruisers - a 2013 Kawasaki Vulcan 900 Custom and a 2009 Yamaha Stratoliner 1900. The 1900 was absolute insanity, but this Valkyrie is absolutely mental, and I must have one. EDIT - Picking one up tomorrow.

Have you ever changed the timing belts? I've never heard of one breaking I only got 47k miles but people say change it anyway because it's 22 years old.. but I seen pictures of people who changed theirs after over 100k with similar age and even when bent over as far as it to go was hard pressed to find any kind of cracks, no hairline cracks or nothing.

The rubber can look fine but I still changed mine at 55k. I would rather waste $40 on new belts than to trust my engine to 20+ year old rubber. If one pops, there goes your engine. They are very easy to change too. Just remove your spark plugs so that easy to turn your engine over with a ratchet when changing and be extremely sure that your running marks are lined up correctly.

First of all, what a NICE helmet you have! I always thought about a Gold Wing with straight pipes, sounding like a hot-rod, but in fact, I didn't really know what I was dreaming or expecting as a dream bike, I only knew I have this picture in my mind and by living in Brazil, I did even knew that this High Way Cruiser Warrior, The Valkyrie exists. When I came to the US and first heard this SOUND, this symphony, all become clear, was a Porsche, was a Drag Bike idling, was a Chopper or Cruiser?!?! No, it was all together in harmony and precisely mechanically attached, well balanced, extremely stable, with 6 carbs, capable to keep a $0.25 coin stand on the cylinder head cover with ZERO vibration and in the same time as a Dragon snoring during a nap. What else can I say? I have my black and chrome Valkyrie in the garage and once the winter starts it will get some nice mods without change any characteristic but making now a much stronger engine and sound. I'll probably post it on KZbin once it gets done. Hey, Thank you so much for the video, it is already on my favourites list!

You are 110% correct as to many didn't understand the Valkyrie. I have one with a Magna Supercharger and even the rotors and the rear end has been chromed. I've got mega bucks invested in the machine and I'll never enter it in another show that has all classes competing against each other because if there's a vtween in the group people will vote for it and stare at the Valkyrie looking dumbfounded with a confused look on their faces. I love my Valkyrie and I think I'll get me another one except I think I'll leave this one stock. The Valkyrie is truly absolutely one of the best bikes ever and will be produced. It's awesome.😎 I love my Harley Street Glide but there will never be anything that will replace the Valkyrie but will just be a different machine. Excellent video 👍.

I have a '99 GL-1500 and went through a couple of bikes before I settled on this one. I had a Suzuki 2005 Boulevard 800, a 2001 Suzuki Intruder 1500, a 1984 Honda V-45, and a 2007 Suzuki M-109R. The Valkyrie was the most comfortable. Most bikes can go fast but its not all about speed but the Valkyrie did not disappoint in any area including accelleration and performance. I get 33-34 mpg that's acceptable to me. I ride hard and don't worry about fuel this ain't no gas saver but it does well for its engine size. Got it at 18k in 2013 its at 42k and it has never remotely had any type of problem. Its a very well made bike built to last. A keeper for me, its nice to be on a freeway and know you got the necessary power for whatever.

I am an original owner of a’97 Valk with 101,195 relatively trouble-free miles. Though I have three other bikes, ‘14 Triumph Bonneville T100, ‘09 BMW RT, ‘94 BMW RS, if I had to have one bike it would be the Valk. Progressive suspension upgrade improved handling and ground clearance (though the bottom of my foot pegs are ground smooth), turndown truck stacks for pipes (50’s look), a Southwest Indian custom paint job, leather bags and National windshield make for an all around great ride. I have had it on every border and ridden it all weather conditions to include snow. Extremely comfortable, though highway pegs are helpful on hot days. Engine is turbine smooth and powerful, and the low center of gravity makes it easy to handle at slow speeds. 0-60 mph in 3.6 seconds. No electronics! A fact I have come to appreciate after buying the RT. I have been through the Dragon numerous times and had a blast, though it is much more fun on the Triumph. Thanks for your review of one of the best all around bikes ever made.

My 97 has the smoothest running motor of the 23 previous bikes I've owned, a few of them newer and more expensive than the flat 6 Valkyrie. This review does not do the bike justice at all. Once you get rolling, it's easily manageable for slow speed manoeuvres, and once you get used to laying it over, it's rock solid in the corners and easily flickable in the twisties. It's more comfortable in the saddle than my former V-Strom and Yamaha venture, and those are very comfy motorcycles. It's as reliable as the Goldwing, but it's given much more umph! With the 6 carbs, And the tweeked motor. The Honda Valkyrie is the greatest of the big brawler bikes of its era, always having presence.

@@afterburner2869 I've read a lot of things about guys using different weights and grades of oil. I use the recommended 10w 40 non-synthetic of a higher quality. The difference is I change my oil sooner than recommended. Every 10000 km or 6000 miles. Oil changes are effortless on this motorcycle, everything is easily accessible. I try to stick to better quality, but whatever is on sale works for me. I would also recommend changing the spark plugs, again a very easy job on this bike. The first time I did I immediately notice the difference. Excellent choice enjoy and be safe.

I HAVE to have a Valkyrie in my life... I've got almost every Honda motorcycle engine configuration in my small but tasteful collection and the last one I've yet to add is the big flat six. Well, we did have one, my old man's '87 Goldwing, but that was sold when he passed away and it wasn't mine anyway. A late 90s GL1500 is at the top of my list of things I don't need, that I definitely need. I'm also on the lookout for a good 1100 'wing, to do a supercharged cafe racer/bobber style build. That's a replacement actually, because Dad and I already built one about a decade ago, but two weeks after completion it was stolen and never seen again. I assume it's still squirrelled away somewhere, as they would have struggled to sell much of it without getting found out by the folks keeping an eye out. Anyway, I'm inspired to fill my flat motored Honda spots in the garage, starting with the Valkyrie.

I love it and ride it almost every day of the spring/summer/fall and even in winter if there's no snow and salt on the roads.. Other than oil changes, brakes, tires and fork seals nothing has been done, not even a tune up and it runs smooth as silk. The word Valkyrie is a Nordic word which means the Chooser of Death. A Valkyrie is a Nordic Godess/angel that watches over warriors in battle and decides who goes to Val Halla/Warrior Heaven. So you’re riding a motorcycle called the chooser of death.

Honda needs to bring back the 1200 cc 4 cylinder gold wing or call it the silver wing, because it’s just to big for most people. I had a 1979 gold wing full dresser and loved it. It wasn’t a boat anchor like the 2000 cc or 2 letter Munster ,the engine is bigger than the one in my car. I believe the 4 cylinder would sell grate. Bring back the classic sweetheart,there beauts are still around , the people still love them to death Please!!!! Think about it????

Just out of curiosity.. what do you define as a fast motorcycle? I live in Nevada and have lots of empty roads and while I usually cruise at 80 miles an hour I have had it over a hundred for reasonable periods of time. Because I am stupid, yes.

We really need more riders to broaden the motorcycle market. This is an amazing bike. If more than 3% of Americans rode bikes, then I know there would have been a market for the Valkyrie. I love it. Having only so much money, I have to set on a few bikes. I saw a concept for a new one, but it was a bit too futuristic for me.

Why the fuck would you want a bike that does everything for you, abs.. Traction control.. launch control..anty wheely.. Cornering assist. Cruise control. The only thing missing is a fuckin ashtray an a roof... The whole reason "FOR ME" is, when I ride I want to be part of the experience, feel at one with the bike, that means being involved. To many bikers (an I use the term loosely ) worry about what other people might think about their bike.. Ride what you like an Fuck everyone else. THIS HAS BEEN A LOCKDOWN RANT.

I own a 2000 Road King and a 1999 Valkyrie 15200cc. I love both the bike, there's good and bad about both. Would only sell the Valkyrie for 6k, it only has 19k original miles where the Road King has 80k. The first person that ask to buy the Valkyrie for 6k, it's sad but I'd have to do it.

Hello riders! A question for Valkyrie owners. After my dad passed away, I have been left to take care of his Valkyrie and I would like to start it up every now and then, to make some noise (it sounds gorgeous) and make sure it still runs. It's a 2002 model, and before I do anything I wanted to know which position should the choke lever be in to start, up or down? I had never thought to ask and now I don't want to screw something up. Thanks!
@kylestewart8354
@kylestewart8354 2 жыл бұрын
Sorry for your loss. Put the bike in neutral. Pull the lever down all the way for full choke. Hit the start button. The bike will come to life. Let it idle on choke for about 1min. Lift the choke lever and the RPMs will come down to normal (just under 1k). If you are storing the bike more than riding it. Add some Marvel's mystery oil to the gas. It will keep those 6 carburetors nice and clean 👌 and prevent them from corrosion.

idk what bike you were riding, but valkyries are FAST for a 900+lb bike with rider. i have a 97 F6c with the tourer package. so big bags and full windshield and it is kinda spooky when you let her rip and get good shift. the thing will absolutely do wheelies if you know what you are doing... or dont. so far i have claimed under my belt 2017 streetglide with a stage 1 kit a 2017 streetglide with a turbo and tune 2009 victory vegas 8ball bored and stroked to 2000cc my buddies base 98 valkyrie and on a 30mph pull i made it 3 car lengths at 70mph in front of a cbr600. which is IMPRESSIVE for any cruiser. and keep in mind that my valk is factory. factory pipes, carbs, tune. not a single performance upgrade on her.

I’ve rode many types of bikes.. learned one very important lesson about being out on the open road for hours and days. No wind shield is means more big bug strikes, pieces of trucks bouncing into you, Bird strikes. I’ve been hit by things that add up to nasty bruises and torn jackets, blood dripping down my leg. Pussy or not.. If I own a bike, it has to have a hiding place. A ricochet place, an impact absorbing place. My worst hit was at 85mph , hit by a hard shell bug in the sunglasses lense.. Knocked the cheap glasses off, two pieces of shell removed with tweezers,splattered yellow gue all over the right side of my head.(half shell helmet, it was over 100 degrees that afternoon) I got hit with a lug nut in the shoulder, I ducked to protect my stomach area.. bled , broke skin and a sizable bruise. T shirt on.. A wind shield is mandatory with me. My worst almost impact!!! A crane type bird.. long neck 30 pound body with ,about 5 foot wing span.. Flew in front of me at about 65 mph near the gulf coast.. two lane black top.. Half helmet, gloves , jeans boots.. T -Shirt..almost 100 degrees.. It crossed in front of me and land in a roll, as I must have nicked it, or scared it to mess up it landing.. That 30 or so pounds would have knocked me off the bike , I never seen it. Never reacted to it, till after , the close encounter.😳 The bike in the video is a beautiful beast. I still prefer the gold wing. I got a 2008 Suzuki Boulevard C90T 1500cc Thee and a half years 36,000 plus miles.. so far..! I love the ease, and handling of it.. wide set handle bars.. leans and handles some what like a crotch rocket... but not really 😊

Been on the forums seems the new 2014 Valkyrie seats give other problems also. Love the bike. The v-rod was a blast but the honda is refined to the max. Actually, my 1700 VMax is the first and only bike I own that has ABS. And fuel injection. But thankfully no traction control or driving mode or virtual intruments. Well, speed is shown as LCD but at least revs come with a gauge. Time takes its toll. Here in Europe no new bike available without ABS and fuel injection (catalytic convertor) by law.
