Could you please comment on the correct "standard" way to fit a cavesson? You skipped the part that I always taught, to be able to fit two fingers between the noseband and the horses' face. "Too tight" seems to be becoming standard, and it's hurting horses. I don't think it's a matter of opinion, honestly. Old instructor here. I've been getting back into the saddle within the past year, and with COVID, sadly, we weren't allowed to tack our own horses up. I rode a schoolie whose NoseBand was so tight, she whimpered when I loosened it. Thanks. For the horses.

It seems too tight to me too. If a horse can’t relax it’s jaw, they hold that tension through the body too. Nose bands shouldn’t really be used to keep the mouth closed, at this point they should be cosmetic. If you have a horse that opens it mouth to evade the bit then there is probably a training or pain issue.
