Personal anecdote: My uncle was a mechanical engineer for DuPont back in the 70s and early 80s, upgrading the production equipment in many of their manufacturing facilities. He openly cooperated with various investigations, but because his work was on the mechanical side of things - designing and upgrading the physical machines - he didn't really know anything useful to them. That said, being aware of the allegations and mounting evidence, he eventually decided to quit not only DuPont, but mechanical engineering altogether. At the age of 30, he applied to medical school and became an orthopedic surgeon (which, if you think about it, is just mechanical engineering on people).

Jake can attack any business and corporate he wants. There is only one industry, he should never mess up with: The fossile energy industry - including the many nations who are lying in bed with this industry due to mineral oil taxes. I lost my job a decade ago, our university institute has been closed down by the government and my former professor is not longer allowed to do R&D-works. The intro parts have several things incorrect. Teflon itself is actually pretty non-toxic. However teflon has an issue: it starts to break down in the range of 300-400F, and it was used in a place where those temperatures are common since it's used in cooking. Calling teflon c8 is incorrect, c8 is a breakdown product of the polymer that makes up teflon under that heat and a few other situations. Teflon is still used to this day in biomedical implants and other things that don't get heated to the point of breaking down.
@LONECOW1210
@LONECOW1210 Жыл бұрын
He also equates PTOA like its teflon. The polymer version PTFE is teflon. They make pans with PTFE which is relatively safe while PTOA is pretty toxic.
@priyeshpv

You're off by about 380 - 280 degrees fahrenheit, a temperature you'd only get when heating a cooking vessel empty, with anything inside you'd long before either have a fire in the kitchen or a lot of smoke. On top of that the amount of fluorine gasses produced by heating an empty vessel would rarely be sufficient to cause so called "Teflon flu", the medical condition caused when exposed to polymer gasses. This video rather was produced to cause panic which is unnecessary because DuPont is bad enough to begin with.

Chemist here, PFOA was used as a processing aid for telfon because without it the only thing it will stick to is itself. My grandfather was a responding firefighter to the DuPont plant fire in Louisville, KY 1965. He was inside the plant when it exploded, and hid behind the wheel well of a semi truck for cover. He was separated from his partner during the fire who unfortunately did not survive the fire. Very harrowing to hear him tell the story. The way he tells it, it sounded like they had absolutely no idea what they were walking into when they responded to the fire.

We had a DuPont munitions facility in my hometown. It was thankfully no longer active when I was growing up but the air near the property had this weird feeling to it. Almost like it was thicker and harder to breath. The stream coming from it that fed into the lake also foamed a bit with a strange visible vapor rising from it. I remember hearing about sensors that had to be installed for detecting cancer causing vapors in a few homes and almost monthly testing in the water mains in the streets. I never really bothered to look into what exactly was dumped or what was seeping from the facility but it caused strange changes in the lake's snapping turtle population. Things were massive and must've been about 2-3 feet in shell diameter. I remember seeing ducks and geese go under never to be seen again. Everything was dredged a few years ago and I haven't seen any of the massive turtles since.

When we vacationed in new Smyrna beach 60 years ago, I was 12, I remember the mosquito sprayer truck going through spraying their poison. I especially remember seeing people sitting on their porch smoking in the early evening, while the mist was settling over them. My dad, who like he taught me, had Common sense as many raised on farms had years ago. He made us go inside while he closed all windows, no air conditioning , and put towels under the door. Sugar is the biggest killer of our society, followed by bromine, chlorine and fluoride. In addition to poisoning us these three highly reactive chemicals compete with iodine receptor sites. Iodine being necessary for life is found in every cell of our body. Low iodine first affects our thyroid, causing goiter, next is breasts especially in women , causing cancer in men and women! Iodine is an essential element of our immune system! Most people get their less than necessary iodine from iodized salt which has only the bare minimum to reduce goiter, the first evidence of low iodine. This compounds the problem when know it all doctors tell you to reduce salt!! Iodine deficiency in pregnant women causes lower intelligence in newborns and young children!

I have always been very wary of nonstick pans/teflon, primarily because you are not supposed to use them if you have a pet bird. Teflon releases fumes at high temperatures, and birds are very sensitive to toxic gases. That is why canaries were used in coal mines as an emergency air quality test. It's like they were saying "remember to remove your smoke detector before cooking anything with our grill".
@bonniemoerdyk9809
@bonniemoerdyk9809 2 жыл бұрын
Mattie ... are you familiar with MCS = Multiple Chemical Sensitivity? We are nicknamed 'Canaries' because our bodies react to chemicals before other 'normal' people do. Generally it's because of being over-exposed to something toxic in the past, like a chemical spill. The closest thing it is similar to that most people have heard of is Agent Orange. Having MCS is a very difficult syndrome to live with as it causes most of us to eventually be house-bound and unable to live a normal life due to all the chemicals in our modern world. Just being around average people wearing hair products and perfume/cologne is enough to make us violently ill for days or even weeks. Plug-ins, laundry detergents, household cleaners are just as bad if not worse! People(and pets) have died from too much exposure, but unless a person gets cancer, many just ignore what canaries go through. But manufacturers just keep making more products with toxic chemicals, and the fragrance industry keeps pumping out more poisonous products, and they are allowed to because they do not have to reveal what the ingredients are...considered legal trade secrets. Yes Mattie, I was very wary of my Teflon pans, got rid of them long ago.

Teflon is a brand name for multiple chemicals. The one talked about in the video is PFOA or C8. There is a very stable one called PTFE, but it begins to break down at a temperature of 300°C/570°F and releases chemicals that cause Teflon flu. Birds are very sensitive to toxic fumes - which is why miners used them. Hope this helps!

You can actually create non stick pans by spreading a thin layer of vegetable oil(sunflower is one of the best for this) in a cast iron pan and putting in the oven for a 1 hour at 280 degrees celsius. You may need to repeat the process to get a more thick anti-adherent layer. It is non toxic and less expensive since you can remake the non-stick after starts to waste away

For the life of me, I can't seem to wrap my head around this issue that pops up all over in every field. Why are there people out there who are willing to fuck up the environment they live in that bad knowingly? The answer is of course money (more or less). But the next question that I have to ask which perplexes me even more is why almost no one who fucks up the environment or engages in some other form of criminal activity for business gain gets shut down and arrested and a frickin death sentence in some cases. And then the third question which is why the hell aren't there more efforts to try and undo the damage that has been done and then prevent more people from causing such havoc? Like, are humans that bent on destruction that we just let Dupont get away with this when it's blatantly clear today how much damage they did?! And Dupont isn't the only example, some companies and people who do awful things are still around to be stopped and punished for what they're doing or trying to do. Like what the fuck people?! Does no one plan to try and at least fight against this destruction even a little? Hell we should be collectively working against this crookedness as much as we possibly can. Like we live here on Earth, why the hell are you gonna let someone else fuck it up? And why do people defending the position of keeping the Earth healthy go so far and end up getting stupid about it and then labeled as hippies and weirdos? Like isn't there a group of people out there who are mentally sane and also capable of taking on industries and people who are having such an awful effect on other humans? Why does this happen and go unpunished and unfixed? Just fucking why?!

When profit isn’t the goal, you’ve replaced capitalism. Once we get rid of America, that will mean an increase in quality of life for everyone. I wonder why that is? 🤔
@Matthew-Anthony
@Matthew-Anthony 2 жыл бұрын
@@justinwatson1510 Wow! I really have my work cut out for me. Cuba's government is the one collecting the data. Communists and Marxists are just as well known for modifying/forging data as they are known for killing their own people. Your claim that Cuban civilizations "happily keep" their government in power is doubtful at best. The Soviet Union, East Germany, Communist China, Cambodia, North Korea, Cuba, along with many others, are ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS oppressive authoritarian regimes, that are overregulated to control their people, and limit their perception of the world by restricting the flow of information. Life expectancy is NOT a RELIABLE measurement for either economics or health care. Amish people in the U.S. have a longer life expectancy than other Americans AND Cubans. Your logic dictates that they have wonderful health care and a rich economy. WRONG! They have no health care system, and they live a medieval lifestyle, without the use of ANY electronics or modern technology. Simply put, you use improper metrics to cherry pick and highlight data that makes your Far Leftist worldview look better. "If" Cubans do "live longer" it is due to a multitude of factors such as better diet and healthier lifestyle. People in the U.S. eat and drink very unhealthier foods. They also have a much more sedentary lifestyle with less exercise. Cubans do NOT have a higher standard of living, nor widespread access to modern technology like the United States, Canada, South Korea, Japan, and many other nations. In case you are wondering, I am NOT only referring to gadgets like smartphones. "It is a socialist idea that making profits is a vice; I consider the real vice is making losses." -Winston Churchill The collapse of the United States will ABSOLUTELY NOT bring about an increase in quality of life for the world as you think it will. The U.S. economy is more intertwined into the world economy and world politics than than ANY nation in all of human history BY FAR. When it collapses, the world economy will be plunged into an even worse stock market crash and depression than the one in 1929. All of the U.S. treasury bonds will go from being legal and reliable money, to being worthless. That will be over $30 trillion of money from the world economy disappearing with nothing to reimburse or compensate people for the loss of their money. That is an EXTREMELY BAD thing! Many countries and ethnic groups throughout Europe, Asia, Africa, and Middle East are HEAVILY reliant, if not completely dependent, on the U.S. Military for protection. When the U.S. stops its worldwide military occupation, using over 800 military bases (this has NEVER been done before in the entire history of mankind) then there will be a massive power vacuum. There will be absolute chaos in world politics to not only fill that space, but also for many militaries throughout the world to attack their enemies knowing that the U.S. is no longer there to protect them. The Middle East will be an even larger shitstorm of conflict and disorder. In other words, war spreading throughout the world. That is another EXTREMELY BAD thing! By the way, I am very curious. If you dislike the U.S. and capitalism so much, why do you want the "evil, exploitative" U.S. economy to sell and buy goods to/from Cuba? Is Cuba not better off being "free" and self-sufficient?

We had to have a 40 hour class and certification to handle hazardous material just to walk on the soil and pump the ground water. Even in areas where they were building new half million dollar condos. The Du Pont family also built a children's hospital near by. Not out of kindness, but because they were HUGE into incest and keeping their money in the family. When I worked there in the 2010's there was a huge stone wall over 15' tall with broken glass at the top to keep reporters and the public from seeing their deformed offspring. This wasn't far from Joe Biden's house (one of them at least). I read that the hospital has been purchased by another company so I don't know if the wall is still there. In 2014 one of the Du Pont heirs was also charged with child rape, but sent to treatment instead of jail. The judge claimed "he wouldn't do well in jail".

My dad used to always tell us that if certain bags ever broke, to sweep up the seeds and NEVER EVER touch the seeds with our bare hands because if it somehow got into our eyes or mouth we'd get really sick. Granted, this type of corn wasn't designed to be eaten by people. But I still always felt like something was off about those two varieties (one was bright orange and the other bright purple, both had a thick powdery coating with a bunch of different chemicals meant to make them more "resilient" or something like that). Sure no human was going to eat this corn seed, but the chemicals on it were going into the ground, and possibly into feed for cattle/pigs at commercial feedlots. So we end up ingesting it either way.

I grew up in a small town on the KY lake. The lake was made by damming the TN river in 1944 to build the TVA New Johnsonville steam plant, to provide energy for the lower part of the TN valley. After TVA constructed the steam plant, land was sold to DuPont in 1959, to build a plant to manufacture pigment. Until the EPA was formed, DuPont used the lake to dump all their toxic chemicals. The rate of cancer in the men and women that worked there is alarmingly high. The rate of cancer in people that live in that area is alarmingly high. Especially brain cancer. It’s a shame they were allowed to do it for so long. They were even safe from the some of restrictions of the EPA until 2005. That area is poor and people were just happy to have high paying jobs (for that area) never knowing what it was doing to their health.

I worked in a Dupont factory in Virginia, they dumped all the chemicals into one of our cleanest rivers. Used to be able to eat the fish you caught out of them, but over two decades later it’s still contaminated. Koch brothers bought Dupont, then sold it again and I believe they sold the patterns and chemicals to China. Now there’s just one section left, which is Lycra. They polluted our rivers, then they laid all their employees off. Over 500 people lost their jobs, and over 500 people lost our only river that runs through our towns.

DuPont has a facility at the north tip of Memphis Tn.They are strategically located in that area due to the fact they have a byproduct that is pure “Ammonia” which gets dumped 24 hours a day via pipelines that discretely run off and spill into the Mississippi River hundreds of thousands of gallons 24 hours a day.The EPA is aware of this corruption,but have a blind eye to it.From that dumping point all the way south of the Mississippi River has some of the world’s highest cancer levels.Just think for one second why St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital is located in Memphis Tn.This has been going on for 50 plus years.They also have private armed security guards that protect the Ammonia pipelines.The guards frequently find dead bodies of people around the lines who try to extract the Ammonia to steal for manufacturing meth.

Out of this less than 15% group, less than 1% will have a second, non-connected instance(Yea me!). Remember, this was years before anyone ever heard of Lance Armstrong. It shouldn't take years of studies and lawsuits to figure out right out of the bat that trowing chemicals in the water you drink will actually be bad for the people who drink it.

I'd love to make every registered Democrat recite this before allowing them into the voting booth. While I see tons of Leftists virtue signaling themselves into exhaustion, it's very rare I see them actually practicing the values they preach, instead, they seem to consider that their job is entirely accomplished by forcing OTHER PEOPLE to live by their their values but they are excused from practicing them themselves. Aka hypocrisy.

@@mattobermiller5041 what values do you think leftists force on other people but don't follow themselves? Also let's be real, leftists, liberals, or democrats aren't the only ones that virtue signal; quoting Markus Aurelius in a KZbin comment is a virtue signal.

I work as a safety valve technician in south east Louisiana. I Inspect, repair, and certify high pressure safety valves for the numerous refineries and chemical plants in the area including the Duponte plant. When Duponte was finally caught and told not to use C8 they simply made a new company named Chemours to produce these harmful chemicals in the same plants. They just changed the name and they still produce those chemicals today at the plant we have here. I've read the material safety data sheets for them when we repair their valves so I know they still use them
