Outstanding reviews. As a movie buff your work is much appreciated. Keep up the good work, it is easily good enough to be watched by millions, and given time, I'm sure it will!

I've seen Pagemaster, Goofy Movie, Felidae, Balto, and James and the giant peach. I definitely am going to check out Quest for Camelot, Once Upon a Forest, and the Theif and the Cobbler. Both films have been on my watchlist but I've never heard of Once upon a Forest. I'm excited to see it because I love Watership down

Pagemaster should have been a TV series. Different story each week. Like Wishbone but without a cute dog in costumes.

Perhaps a mini series a la Over the Garden Wall

Woah! I caught 'i married a strange person' as a teen on late night tv in the uk. It completely left my brain and you bringing it up just pushed the memory right back! Definitely gonna search it out now

My sister and I have seen some of these, such as The Page Master and Once Upon a Forest. In fact, we even used to play The Page Master video game! But most of these we either hadn't seen or hadn't heard of. I remember when studios such as Warner Bros. had made animated feature length films in the same vein as Disney but were a lot less successful. Thanks for the video.

This is absolutely my early teen years, and what inspired a LOT of my work. 💜 Darla freaking Dimple… possibly one of my all time FAVORITE villains. She is freaking HILARIOUS! XD

Shocking how I grew up as a teen in 90’s that loved cartoons but I have never seen any of these films, except for James and Giant Peach…so insane. Some deep cuts.

Yeah! Kiriku! I would also recommend watching the rest of his stories that came after and then check out the whole body of work of Michel Ocelot -- he is an amazing storyteller in the land of animation. I would love to see more movies that channel the themes and values that Ocelot tackles.

Well miss 1 from your list. And yes sad so many good animated movies get pushed aside by big studios or in the case of "Cats don't dance" not promoted correctly. Would like to add 2 old & 1 newer title to consider watching "Starchaser the legend of Orin (1985)", "The Flight of Dragons (1982)" and "A Monster in Paris (2011)". There is a LONG list of animated movies that are underrated and A LOT better story wise that main stream movies.

All summaries and descriptions of the films you provide in your videos should appear on the back of their boxes or on streaming services. English may be the second language I learned, I'd love to speak it as you do with such elegance and poetry. Thank you for all this research! ❤

Just my personal point of view, but the parts that you consider "strong" in Quest for Camelot are literally the ones that people dislikes the most. The silly comedic characters are (no offense, just stating what I feel) a less funny versions of the Genie and Iago from Aladdin. Same for the villain that is just Hulk Hogan, evil for evil sake. The songs aren't bad, the backgrounds very well made and the animation is fluid, but the cartoon is still far from a "misunderstood masterpiece". The movie flopped because it just didn't had enough to offer and the comicality was more forced and distracting that entertaining.

I could watch a Marvin the Martian 90's style animated movie...but i do miss the 80's stuff Top Cat, Jabba Jaw, Captain Cave Man, Wacky racers, Marine Boy and everything between i'll spend too long trying to copy n paste from a google search!

in terms of Quest For Camelot, It may no have been great on its reception, but it is a great nostalgic piece of fantasy film with impactful soundtrack coming from WB PICTURES ANIMATION (Aka WB Feature - Animation - Group), makes sense?

Always love your videos. Could you do one on the big Disney box office bombs ? Like The Emperor's New Groove, The Black Cauldron and Atlantis. I love those films, yet they aren't as well known despite being really unique.

Ever since the animation industry got worse over the past teen years, I prefer to catch up with old but gold classics like these listed here. To me, they're as great as the things I watched growing up, really. Thank You so much for making nostalgic content. Keep up the good work!

Notwithstanding the one started around the ‘60’s, I would have sworn some of these were actually from the ‘70’s or ‘80’s. And I’ve never even heard of the last 2. Also, I never really noticed this (but my brain did) but there is an unappealing quality to some of those Warner and Fox ones at the beginning. They rely on a flat color scheme. Aside from pulling the soft edge motif that Disney had been doing there is no shader effect added to the characters throughout most film. Don Bluth used this in his films coupled with changing the hues to simulate lighting effects, but with the ones on this list, they come across as almost boring to look at and unlike Bluth, don’t have magnificently painting background plates to set against. It gives everything a vanilla feel to it. And Bluth got that way too later on when he wasn’t just trying to be Disney because the competition swayed back their way on him. The technical factors are something to appreciate as much as fluidity, production design, and story at least for me anyways.

what's the golden age of 90's animation? 1992 ?
@gloriathomas3245Ай бұрын
The animation was good for its time but just doesn't hold up given the technological leaps that have been made within the last few decades. The Dreamcast game Jet Set Radio demonstrates what the future of animated features should be..a merger of 3D and cel-based animation as in the case of Marvel What If series.

So far I have seen nothing to top off Akira (in terms of animation quality), and that movie is over 30 years old.
