Thank you Jolynn for this video. This is in deed one of the best presentations on KZbin I have seen. To the point but substantiated information. And you covered all different areas. I'm interested in relocating to Panama but weather is a prime concern. The temps there appear to be exactly what I like, and I even like rain! Your video answered a lot of my concerns. I love to walk, know some Spanish, and like that you shared the library. The medical is a concern as well. I hope to travel there in a few weeks as an exploratory trip. Thank you and will subscribe. Wow Jolynn!!! I was decidedly disappointed that the Spanish immersion program I wanted to attend was in Boquete and not PC!! Sis!! Why do you have me ready to FIND A REALTOR!! They need to HIRE YOU in the Boquete Visitor and Tourist Center if you're not already employed there... SCRATCH THAT!! You need to be RUNNING THE SHOW!! I've viewed hundreds of videos!! This is the very BEST!! Honestly, Boquete does NOT hit some of the things that I'm looking for in a Spanish Immersion experience, since there are so many expats... but wow!!! After this video... I don't even CARE anymore!! I particularly loved the library and the rental options!! You did the thing Jolynn!! I hope to find you when I'm in town!! I want to get as far away from any kind of cold weather. But after listening to you, you brought a different perspective to the weather. Also the prices fit in perfectly for our budget. I can see us living there for $1000 or less. LOVE IT! I am thrilled the rental properties are furnished and can be rented short term... 3 months is what we would want to start. I live between Colorado, USA and Boquete -- My observations -- Most Gringos relocating to Boquete will be gone in 3 years ; UNLESS-- you learn, at least, basic Spanish, integrate into community ( do not just stay within expat community) and do some community service ( such as aiding in schools). Cost of living in Panama is generally 50% of living in Colorado USA ; so if you are just only looking for low cost of living, Thailand & Vietnam is 75% less than in USA. Wherever you go, do something with your retirement time, to benefit the locals.

Well said!!! We are snowbirds between Seattle & Boquete and have witnessed a lot of change during the past few years. Fortunately, we have been leaning Spanish for many years and agree, it’s necessary if you want to expand your community to include Panamanians, which is highly recommended!!

@@scottjackson163 Greetings Scott -- I agree, however I find most people are looking for a permanent place to live their best lives. This is seldom possible if one has not laid down permanent roots in a place where they are spiritually connected to the land & people. I have seen ( especially New York / New Jersey types) people relocate to Panama and complain that things are not the way things were in their prior homeland. It is fortunate these types do not last long in Panama and most assimilated Gringos and Panamanians wish they never arrived here.

I do believe one should learn the language and yes, contribute to the locals in some way if you stay for an extended time frame. This video really helped me with my perception of Boguete as I plan on visiting Panama for possible relocation. The weather seems to be the best there. What a great video!

Thank you!! I loved your articulate, comprehensive, enchanting overview of Boquete. I've lived in three Latin American countries which were all lovely in their way but not quite the spot to call home (including CR). And I've lived in Europe (I'm from the U.S.). Something has prompted me very strongly since 2009 to establish myself outside of the U.S. for the remainder of my life but it has taken time and other challenges to find the right spot. Oddly, one thing that is inadvertently guiding the process and narrowing it down (among many other factors) is that I am averse to heat and my eyes are sensitive to light to the point of needing a cloudy place with a high percentage of overcast days, which I love. And I prefer hiking in green mountains over the beach by far. Boquete seems like a charming community with the right climate and, as a bibliophile, I was extra charmed and excited by the information you shared about the library! I would actually love to work in a library part-time. I'm single, 56 (woman) and not retirement age, so I'm hoping to qualify for a long-stay visa when I get my freelance graphics business to the point of earning enough to qualify under some criterion. I've lived in Ecuador, Peru, and Costa Rica so I'm not unfamiliar with LA culture and rural life. I've had my eye on Boquete for a while, years actually, and your video has helped solidify my desire to check it out as soon as possible. Thank you again, Jolynn!
