@@natanlakonishok I got a leg cramp on my back leg when I tried the Magic-Slide it was funny. It was super painful but I was just so excited I was able to pull it off properly so the pain was worth it!!!!! I'll send you a clip once I get better at it. I still have a long way to go before I can nail down the slide at high speeds like you. You are fearless when you hit the slide at such high speeds!!!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥Super Awesome 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥!!!!!!!

Many thanks Natan, your explanation helps a lot! Great points about the height/speed, and the angle of the back foot - especially for the latter I think I am too aggressive on the angle when initiating the t-stop which causes a lot of instability... looking forward to working in these ingredients that you demonstrated!

I can do soul slide just fine, and as for magic you're right about back leg being confusing so I will try your exercises. But what also confuses me with is where and how do you position your weight during the slide? During soul most of the weight is on the back leg, but from what I understand for magic you do the opposite?
@natanlakonishok3 жыл бұрын
No matter what you do , especially in high speed most of your weight will be on the front foot . Thats why you need to bring close the rear foot to the one in front .

Keeping your back leg close makes a lot of sense. I tend to slide sideways when I do a magic, I assume it's cause my back leg is too far apart.

So push through the heel with leading foot abs toes on the Back foot then slowly bring them both to the center?I thought I was doing a magic slide but I think I was just doing a soul slow, I’ve only been processing it two days but I did it a lot

Great tutorial! Will work on it next time I go out. One question: Do you think you can progress from a powerslide into a magic slide? I never quite "got" the soul slide but I can do a powerslide confidently at high speeds. Would it be a sensible progression to try and combine the powerslide with a T-Stop on the other foot to get to the magic slide?
@natanlakonishok3 жыл бұрын
Thx , the problem with the Powerslide . Is that you turn your hips and shoulders ...they need to stay alinged with your direction . So try not to move them as much as you can . Keep me posted about your progress , you are more than welcome to send me your videos in private as well !🤞

@@natanlakonishok Alright ty for the heads up. I might also try drilling the soul slide again since I just saw your tutorial and might have approached the soul slide wrongly previously... Now I'm excited to get out there! :)

Nathan, I just took 5 months off from skating because ankles were a little sore. When I saw you out there this winter I thought, what the heck am I doing? Two different videos said different things about putting the weight on your front foot or putting the weight on your back foot. I think I did my first quasi magic slide. I wonder if it’s best to practice it stopping at the end before on big down hills or maybe it doesn’t really matter, I should just go out when it’s wet or spray some water in my basement and try to get the feeling for it. You should get two shirts, it would be cool to get one with a graphic of you doing the magic slide and it says …or you gonna fall.

Thx , yes practicing the Magic on wet is highly recommended 👍

I wonder, is it safe (or even possible) to soul/magic slide on all sorts of outdoor tiles? There're cracks that you can get stuck on. Thoughts?

Bonjour.

Try to train on "Speed Checks" . Enter the magic and , go out of the slide before you stop completely . It helps allot to maintain proper hip movement .

@@baddan314, a must, for sure. I found it helpful to learn to carve and then add the soul slide at the end of a carve. Others find it possible to go straight to learning the soul slide. Natan also shows how to enter a magic from a snow plow. Many ways to skin a cat.
