Colchuck Lake! Aasgard Pass!
The Enchantments thru-hike 2018. Sometimes you ask yourself, "Why do we do the things we do?" Why rise early in the AM to hike over 21 miles, including a 2,000 foot climb over Aasgard Pass in just 3/4 of a mile? Why go through the sixteen thousand switchbacks after Snow Lake - especially since we did this hike last year?
Some places are just so magical that you don't feel right unless you go back. That sums up the Enchantments. A slice of heaven dropped into the Cascade mountain range of the USA's Washington State. It's a prime destination - in order to overnight there you need to win a lottery. Those who don't win that lottery generally end up taking the through-hike option, which isn't an easy day - but it's a fulfilling one.
Starting off at the Colchuck/Stewart Lake trailhead, then up to Colchuk and over Aasgard Pass. Through the core zone, upper and lower basins, many lakes, and finally out at the Snow Lake trailhead. To keep from having to go back up to the Colchuck trail to retrieve the vehicle, I always recommend using the Loop Connector Shuttle - cheap, reliable, and saves you an hour on the back end of this epic journey. Well worth it. loopconnectorshuttlecom
There's a lot to see in this video, so much scenery, lakes, mountains, waterfalls - mountain goats - so grab a glass of wine, a beer, or Goose and mixers and sit back and enjoy some amazing views. I try to keep the words to a minimum, because the views speak for themselves.
Asgard Pass!

Nice hike. Loved the panoramas and the goats...all of it. Please get a drone! THAT would be brilliant!

Thank you! I've thought about the drone. Unfortunately, most places worth droning don't allow you to have one. And it does get annoying to other hikers to hear that huuuummmmmmmm all the time while trying to appreciate the natural sounds!!!! I still may do it at some point, tho!

Just take it one step at a time. That's the best advice for Aasgard. Don't let it get in your head, lol. Warm up on other hikes earlier in the season to prepare for AAsgard, too, and make sure you follow the cairns up the pass. appreciate the comments and thank you for watching! Enjoy that hike, it's an amazing experience!

My father told me about this hike. Thanks for helping me discover this. Is this hike something I could do on my own as I just took early retirement so have flexibility to do it when the weather is good on a weekday next summer. What company did you reserve the connector through?
@VFCsTravels

Yes both times I hiked it I was flying solo. When the weather is nice there quite a few people on the trail too so you’re never really alone. Enjoy it, it is such an experience and congrats on the early retirement!!

I notice nobody has caught the craziness after the rebar section. My gopro died just before that part which sucks. That part was as hairy as I care to get. We are talking butt puckering crazy crap.

what do you mean by booking online for 20 $? what exactly ?going in 3 weeks for this hike so wanna make sure oi know as much as I can . thank you

You can book your Loop Connector pick up/drop off online. Park at the snow lakes trailhead and the connector will pick u up there and drop you up at the colchuck trailhead so that when you finish the hike you finish by your car. It's a great deal for just twenty bucks, although not sure how covid affects his services. Enjoy the hike! Remember, one step at a time! Very jealous you are going in three weeks!

Awesome hike brother, How long was the hike to get to snow lake? Because I'm putting this place on my bucket list.

@VFCsTravels 4 жыл бұрын
Hello! Nice thank you, it's definitely worth the trek! I can't remember exactly how long it took to get to Snow Lake, but the whole hike was 12 hours for me. there is about 7 miles left once you get to snow lake tho. And about 15000 switchbacks between snow lake and the trailhead!
