I was able to snag a TMAG at scheels, they're still in stock at the moment: www.scheels.com/p/magpul-tmag-30-ar%2Fmr-gen-m3-30-round-rifle-magazine/873750-MAG1471.html

I ran three of them at a carbine class on Sunday. The feel of the mag is smooth, not sure how that will do wet or with snow. My son prefers something more textured. It doesn’t feel as solid as a PMAG but better than a Lancer. I was dropping them from both a Tavor and AR all day with no breakages. I did have one failure to feed. After about 10 rounds the trigger went click. I racked the charging handle and click again. I ejected the mag and reseated it, racked the handle and click. I pulled the mag out and noticed that the top rounds were almost side by side. The next round did not index properly and was sitting below the feed ramps. I push the rounds with my thumb and they sorted themselves out and I had no issues after that. So…one mag related failure after a day of shooting with three mags.

Magpul did it first with their Gen 1 transparent mags. Never made it to production. We beta tested the new Pmags and Emags. They looked almost the same except clear and not tinted but they’d fracture at the feed lips at less than 500 rounds. Started with ten for testing and they all failed quickly.

What's with the love of lancer mags? They are so soft and thin feeling and I haven't broken one, but it's noticeably cheap. People then hate on ETS and my 30 rd clear ets feels like a tank there is no flex in that mag and it's thick. Especially compared to my hexmag and lancer.

@@nickydickyvids It's mag body geometry. My 30 round gen 3 pmags seat on a closed bolt easily with a mild push on the bottom from the support hand. Taking the spring and baseplate out of that pmag, and placed into a tmag, still cant seat on a closed bolt easily without excessive force, or beating them in there. 2 for 2 on tmags that don't seat on a closed bolt in my rifle when loaded with 30 rounds. Im sure they work fine otherwise, but they're pretty much only for the range in my book because of the effort it takes to seat a loaded mag with the bolt forward.

For price per mag, I'll stick with Lancer mags for now.

This is the second version. First transparent came out with the original Pmag. Never made it to production. Plastic was too fragile and It would shatter the feed lips rather quickly. Looked almost the same but clear. They looked awesome but wouldn’t last. Guess the new polymers they’re using can withstand the beating now.

First thing I did was take it apart and lube it, because it sounded like butt from the factory. The white round counter is the best part of this mag. Even when the round count has reached into the magwell, the white indexed spring will give you those quick and as accurate as needed visual checks. Finally, 7 month wait? They share the same MSRP, I feel like the TMAG will match that $16-$17 soon. I don't have anything against Lancer mags, they're obviously good if the NGSW is using them. Just doing a quick vid on a new Magpul mag. Thanks for watching!
@gkft4 ай бұрын
While the TMag is yet to prove itself long term, I'd take basically any (standard issue) mag over a Lancer. They just don't seat on a closed bolt well, they are more flimsy (even against a Tmag) and they retail for the same price as the Tmag, and more than a G3 Pmag. As Tmags become more available I don't see why they won't basically be 18.99 everywhere.
@magickaldood4 ай бұрын
@@gkft My true favorite is the Surefeed E2, sadly those are gone from the market. I have plenty of gen 2 and gen 3 Pmags and those work well too. I have limited exposure to Lancers but when I have used them they have been 100%. Additionally, Lancers are on sale right now, for about $10/mag. Aluminum mags don't shatter in subzero temps. Polymer mags don't get nearly indistinguishable dents that jam up the follower. I also think of mags as semi-consumable, usually cheaper to buy new ones when they are not performing.

@@nickydickyvids IIRC they're not using lancers anymore. I believe they are all metal mags made by SIG. Soldier Systems had an article about the US Army testing a Magpul XM7 mag. Looks like it's just a windowed PMAG for 6.8 Fury. They were originally going to use the Lancer 6.8 but for some reason swapped to an all metal mag. I will say between my TMAG and Lancer transparent the Magpul polymer seems higher quality and I've had better luck with PMAGS as a whole personally. Had many hangups with my 7.62 Lancer and I just like the "self lubricating" polymer feedlips of Magpul personally. So far my 556 lancers have been gtg though.
