I break down the myth of "Maico Breako" from equal footing, which in the end seems unfounded propaganda.
Video picture is of a new CRF Engine and not a Maico :)

Special Note: To those who have read "Super Hunky's What Killed Maico 1 and 2" the reason I have not put any information in about those is because the "Maico Breako" is not related to those incidents. It appeared in the 70s way before that ever happened. Secondly, most bikes did not have a problem and there are different accounts of the 83 issues. The shock is also a known issue with 82, the rising rate, however many Japanese bikes do have 1-off year issues and infact, some have many many year issues year after year on the bikes. So it still doesn't constitute saying "Maico Breako".
There's a lot of 82s and 83s still around and in great condition. Plus models following those years are all quite reliable and without any major issues.
