To whom it may concern,
Here it is! I finally finished the big secret sewing projects! This is one of them, a Barong Tagalog that I made for my dad to wear on his only son's wedding day.
Yes, this is a sewing video uploaded on an art channel. For months, I debated whether I would upload every single video log I create for my many projects, whether it'd be art or otherwise. This time last week, I was so adamant to start a brand new KZbin channel dedicated to my sewing projects. I wanted to start fresh, have consistent branding and aesthetic. However, today my mind changed once again.
It brought me back to a promise I made myself last year, "self-expression without boundaries," to embrace the art of creation, whatever form it may be, and to stop worrying about social media jargon, like niche, click-through-rate, thumbnails, call to action, hooks, brand story and most of all, Instagram feed aesthetic.
The moment I stress over details like this, the more I procrastinate the act of creation. I obsess over how I can make a messy process can look aesthetic on screen.
Self-expression without boundaries. This mantra gave me comfort last year, and I hope it brings you comfort this year too. I hope you won't let social media niches stop you from creating, documenting and sharing the art you make. So be creative! Experiment and explore the passions you have right now, and don't agonise over whether it fits the channel aesthetic and branding. Use any video style you fancy. Use whatever font and colour palette floats your boat. Don't limit your ideas.
And here's to hoping that my resolve this 2024 to maintain this mindset is stronger - that I won't let trivial pressures sway my mind.
Love, Zyra

That is such a beautiful color! I would see my neighbors and friends when I was a little kid wear a Barong for parties and other gatherings and be fascinated at just how freaking cool they look. I think you did an amazing job capturing the spirit of the Barong

Thank you so much! It's definitely a very popular colour for weddings at the moment and I'm here for it! It's definitely one of my favourite colours right now, and my younger self swore never to like the color orange 😆

What a delicate fabric to work with..you did an amazing job. Not only you avoided speeding up the clips but took your time explaining all of the crucial details. Love the embroidery and the final design! 🧡

18th century embroidery is NO JOKE. (Trust me, we tried it.)
