Smetana, without a doubt ♥ Smetana never heard his completed symphony, he went deaf in the five years it took to compose this brilliant set of poems. Deaf and composing something SO beautiful... You can hear the babbling fragile mountain streams at the beginning, the wide slow-moving river, the wild waterfalls, the life along the banks, the shrill, roaring cacophony of Prague's industrial area, and then that ending where the Moldau winds its way and slowly dissolves into the Danube until absolute silence, absolutely brilliant! Who likes to hear the whole symphony: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rWfNnZuCisx4iJI A very nice video from the "Moldau" part here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/omfOoqhootBggdk

Also I'd like to add that if you need help with something - depending on the material, features, tolerances and if theres an availability of a free cnc mill that isnt overloaded with work at my job - I wouldnt mind making a part for you. Free of charge of course! And I really do mean it - feel free to ask 🤗

Thank you! I will keep this in mind. Sometimes a part can hardly be made in the conventional way and if that's the case I will send you a message. If you could give me your e-mail address (by e-mail of course) that would be nice.

Hi Colin, Yes I have some ideas, and possibly some unconventional solutions here and there, but a lot of the details need to be figured out as we go along. I already like this project. (And I hope it stays that way..) 🙂

With that bow in your column is it still square to the base. Or did you re-skim the bottom end square after in the same setup as finish milling the dovetail?
@Michel-Uphoff
@Michel-Uphoff 11 күн бұрын
As mentioned, however I didn't show it in the video, I made the ends square with a T-slot mill. I did this after finishing the dovetails. When it comes to the end assembly (in a number of weeks, months..) I will recheck all alignment and squareness per component and trim where necessary.

Consider the Makita Sash 4403. This is the best micro mill I've ever used and the spindle can be changed according to your needs. If you can find one its a gem but if not maybe the design could be useful.
@Michel-Uphoff
@Michel-Uphoff 11 күн бұрын
Thanks for your reply. If I'm not mistaken, that Makita is a router, especially for aluminum. With a fixed speed of 30k rpm, it is unsuitable for processing steel. Furthermore, it lacks so many features I have on my wish list that I consider it unusable for my purpose.
@leanmixture
@leanmixture 11 күн бұрын
@@Michel-Uphoff The router can be replaced by a spindle of your choice, mine is equipped by a cnc spindle and controlled by a vfd, the platform is ridged and accurate according to my experience with it machining many steel parts. Good luck with your design looking forward to it. Thanks.

Oh sir... now you have my full attention! Did the dovetail cutting in this video significantly wear down the cutter? Do you need a new one? Or it still lasts?
