I know a lot of people don’t like Kanye or think he’s overrated or whatever but I always thought damon albarn and Kanye west were both like super geniuses because I really loved gorillaz first album and demon days probably even more and I kinda wish they made a project together because to me, they were both super geniuses and I remember one of my friends was super into danger mouse and mf doom at the time. @@paodiaz2381 Bradley's highlighting the apparent hypocrisy of the album having the promotional slogan of "Reject False Icons" which itself is a call to reject consumerism and fads/trends yet having one of the albums main songs appear in an Apple commercial, which itself fosters the exact ideology that "Reject False Icons" seems to rail against. However, the songs may be written by Gorillaz but that doesn't necessarily mean they own the songs. EMI owns the rights to the songs and the decision to bid it off to Apple for use in their commercial could have been made by EMI and not Gorillaz. At the end of the day EMI is a company, a business, and they have a responsibility to their owners/shareholders regardless of if they are publicly traded or privately owned. The decision could have been made without Damon/Jamie's input at all.

Demon Days is one of the best albums of all time, in my opinion. It's just so insanely good. One night I dropped acid alone in my house, and I listened to it beginning to end, and it was one of the best nights of my life. Fire Coming Out of the Monkey's Head is a standout track, along with Kids With Guns. The production is so tight, Danger Mouse really deserves some credit on this one. The music almost has a voice of it's own, like on O Green World, when I was tripping the beat itself took the form of a monkey who was silly and whimsical. The notes sounding like the mischevious monkey was laughing at me. I can still hear it if I listen to it now.

I've always felt this was their best album because of the way that Damon Albarn and Danger Mouse worked together, it's definitely the most successful album after the first one. The way the compositions were arranged by Danger Mouse was amazing, especially on songs like "Kids With Guns". He also became one of my "producers to watch" after The Grey Album dropped because that was one of the best mash-ups (production wise) ever created. I'm a fan of later Gorillaz albums, as well as other Danger Mouse productions, however I still think that this might be both artist's best effort to date.

I said it for many years now that Damon Albarn is the David Bowie of this generation, a musician who will go down many different routes and doesn't churn out the same album twice. From Blur, to Gorillaz to The Good, The Bad, The Queen to his solo work to his work as a film composer. The guy's a genius, not many of those around today. I think Demon Day's is probably his masterpiece, along with Blur Self Titled or Modern Life is Rubbish. I think follow up Gorillaz album Plastic Beach is every bit as great. The following albums aren't as strong but still got some fantastic stuff on them.
