I was impressed by some of the names involved in this movie. Movie is pretty good for what is. I always liked Slater, he has a real presence in the movie. Anyway, when you hear people like Peralta and Hawk were involved in the movie, it lends the movie some "cred"

Rise your hand if you watched this movie in your teenage and started skateboarding afterwards!! One other thing, the writing of the movie wasn’t amazing, but the story was very good. Also it would have been 10 times better if they had the killing of the brother as a mistero until the end, without showing it and making the audience believe it was a suicide.

This wasn't the first movie about skateboarding with a plot that was worthy of Hollywood, "Thrashin" was, and it came out in '86 whereas gleaming the cube came out in 89👍🏻😏

If you listen to it again, he doesn't say it was the first. Skateboard the movie was also before Thrashin. This may be the first skateboard movie that's not directly about skateboarding. Brian enters no contest and actually quits skateboarding at one point in the movie.
