Christian Slater: “All I wanted was to be cool in the movie.” Dude, you were the epitome of cool to my 12-year old self! I wanted to be you more than the pro skaters when I was a kid... Why the hell hasn’t this film been released on Blu-ray??!

Probably not gonna see it on blu-ray because all the stunt double shots of skaters wouldn’t hold up. They’d have to do CGI face mapping which is at the moment not cheap to do well.

When I was a kid I begged my parents to build a fallout shelter underground. That was the coolest part of the movie. and also the skateboards.

Throughout my who life...(& I’m 39 now:-), whenever people have asked me who my favorite actor is, I’ve always said 80s Christian Slater. I idolized him...& I was a skater too, so when they came out with Gleaming The Cube I was so psyched. I actually just watched it tonight to walk down memory lane. Gleaming The Cube, Heathers, True Romance & Pump Up The Volume are still some of my favorite movies. They were all so fucking rad.

But the hole time my Gf and her/are girl friends would non stop talk about how cute, cool, fun, etc, he is. I remember being so jealous and trying to slick my hair back like his. Grew up watching this as a kid and finally on Amazon prime. Usually when u become an adult. Movies get cheesier especially from the 80s and early 90s. But I cant believe actually i found it very heartwarming here in 2020 and really holds the test of time. Christian Slater was always underated and one of the great actors of the 90s.

@@Turco949 Here's the Google Maps EXACT location of where I met him. The schools below are Lowell Elementary and Rogers Middle School, the stairway going down the hill at the gate separates the two schools. My friends and I were skating on Vista St. right near where you see the black Nissan truck parked on the left. The Pizza Hut truck with Tony driving and the rest of the skaters pulled up right there. They got out and did a few tricks. I was oblivious to who they all were, and didn't even recognize Tony Hawk at first. I asked him for his autograph but couldn't make out the signature. When I got home, my Mom told me it said Tony Hawk. I went through a few of my Thrasher skate magazines and actually found a picture of Tony Hawk on one of the pages with his autograph, which I matched up with the one he gave me. I was so ecstatic, I could hardly contain myself! LOL www.google.com/maps/@33.7662677,-118.1331738,3a,75y,62.3h,90.69t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1stVfkRRIKXoqIXJbsgkEKvw!2e0!7i16384!8i8192

In the summer of 1994, I watched this movie on VHS every single day. I couldn't skate because my family lived on a farm, and the only concrete around was the highway in front of my house with a 65 mph speed limit. I was 10 years old going on 11, and after that summer I moved to Savannah, Ga. from Bowman S.C., and was about to start Jr. Highschool. I modeled my image after Yabo (I think that was his name) on my first day and got picked on. Ahh good times 😂🤣😂

100 fuckin percent! I'd go shred for DAYS after watching them. Hitting ramps on the bike and bookin' it down the street. I think I still have my VHS tape of RAD in storage, TBH. 😆 And I had a bad ass original Jeff Kendall Santa Cruz 'Atomic Man' skateboard on Independent trucks and some Kryptonics 'Slammer' fat street wheels. I was the shit as a kid lmao. Fast-forward to today and I find myself looking for a reproduction deck like my old one to buy. They're out there occasionally. And Independent is still going so I could always get it assembled with good parts. Funny story. I actually just found my very first skateboard I ever got as a kid when I was at my storage unit a couple of weeks ago. It was a cheap Nash skateboard lol. For whatever reason, I kept the deck and still have it all these years later. Probably close to 30.

Two of my favorite guys that I grew up knowing. They both survived so much and are looking great! My best to them both - I loved Tony's skate style - I skated for 15 years of my life - from about 7 to my early 20's and then Christian with his movies - heck yeah! Pump Up the Volume was amazing along with his other movies like Untamed Heart that were simply fantastic. Mr Robot - awesome! Tony I hope to see him expand his style - super sharp guy. Cheers to you both from an old 50 year old skater from SJ California. I loved the Bones Brigade Documentary! You guys really spoke your feelings. We needed to hear them

3:49 That flyaway helmet looks much better than I remember. When Protec helmets came along in the 90’s, it was such an improvement that they actually looked kinda cool by comparison. How you wore the strap made a difference though. For example, unbuckled was cool at first, despite the potential of the strap whipping you in the face. Then there was a short fad of buckling the strap around the back of the helmet. I think rollerbladers started that one, and it looked decent for a minute, despite rendering the helmet completely useless. It fell off every time they fell. Kids who wore them unbuckled usually had the foam padding make it fit tight, or wore a baseball cap under it with the brim. Not so much with the clip around the back dudes. That was only cool for one summer in 1996. By 1997, X-Games was rolling, so everyone just wore the helmets buckled to get on TV, but with the strap loose. That was the cool way to wear it then, though they did sometimes rise up or almost fall off. White helmets were cool around then too. This includes on the street course. I’m not sure when they stopped making pros wear them in the street comp.

Gator did a good amount of Christian's stunt for the final 15 minutes of the film.

The Chateau Marmont is a nice iconic casual lunch backdrop for two iconic casual dudes. P.s. Theres a rumor that the spider high top Airwalks worn by Mr. Slater will be making a return

Am watching this now for the 1st time. Pretty good movie. I was born in 64, and from 75 to 80 skated a lot. Until I got my drivers license. Got on a board recently my nephew had, and about killed myself, lol. Christian performance in this movie is really good. I can see why he had success as an actor early on. He was constantly being compared to Jack Nicholason back then. Which is not a bad thing to be compared to. Having Tony Hawk to be your mentor as a 1st time skater is a pretty good teacher to have to say the least. I always wonder if I never quit skating how far I could have taking it. "It's on a loop at my house". Haha!

I've seen Slater in more formal interviews, on panel shows, and he always comes across as awkward. Seeing him in a less formal, more relaxed environment when he's talking with someone he's comfortable with, totally different energy. His charisma really comes out.

😂😂😂 I think Christian Slater had a ton of plastic surgery a new airline and he actually uses his money to stay out of the media and let people know what he really looks like and who he really is I've never liked that man

There was no skateboarding in this movie. It is a boring Drama. Tony Hawk just stood silently in random scenes. The story made no sense. Terrible movie
