Cliche കഥാപറച്ചിലുകളിൽ നിന്നുമാറി പുതുമയുള്ള കഥയും കഥാപാത്രങ്ങളും ഉൾക്കൊള്ളാൻ തയ്യാറായതുകൊണ്ടാണ് "kumbalangi nights" അത്രമേൽ മനസ്സിൽ നിന്ന് മായാതെ നിൽക്കുന്നത്. ഒരു സിനിമയ്ക്ക് എങ്ങനെ ആണ് ഇത്രയധികം ജീവിത പശ്ചാത്തലങ്ങൾ ചർച്ചചെയ്യാൻ കഴിയുന്നതെന്നത് അത്ഭുതമായി തോന്നുന്നു. രാത്രിയുടെ നീളം കൂടുതലുള്ള ചിത്രം. ചുരുക്കം ചില സീനുകൾ കൊണ്ടു തന്നെ കഥാപാത്രങ്ങളെ വ്യക്തമായി അടയാളപ്പെടുത്താൻ പാകത്തിനുള്ള ഡയലോഗുകൾ. ഇന്നിന്റെ പ്രണയസങ്കല്പങ്ങളെ പൊളിച്ചടുക്കിയുള്ള ആവിഷ്കരണം. "അവനൊരു ക്രിസ്ത്യാനി അല്ലേ?" ന്നു ചോദിക്കുമ്പോ "അതിനെന്താ! യേശു നമുക്ക് അറിയാത്ത ആളൊന്നും അല്ലല്ലോ" ന്നുള്ള മറുചോദ്യത്തിലുണ്ട് , പെണ്ണിനും ഹൃദയം കൊണ്ട് പ്രണയിക്കാനും ഇഷ്ടങ്ങളെ ചേർത്തു നിർത്താനും കഴിയുമെന്ന് അടിവരയിട്ട് പറയാനുള്ള സംഗതികൾ. ആർക്കും വേണ്ടാത്തതുങ്ങളെ കൊണ്ടിടുന്നിടത്തു നിന്നുപോലും, നന്മയുള്ള ചിന്തകളും, ഉൾപ്രേരണകളും കൊണ്ട് സ്വർഗ്ഗതുല്യമായ ജീവിതത്തിലേക്ക് വരാൻ കഴിയുമെന്ന് പറഞ്ഞുറപ്പിക്കുന്നുണ്ട് കുമ്പളങ്ങിയിലെ ആ കൂടപ്പിറപ്പുകൾ. "ഏതു ടൈപ്പ് ചേട്ടനായാലും മര്യാദയ്ക്ക് സംസാരിക്കണം" ന്ന് പറഞ്ഞ് സാഹോദര്യത്തിന്റെ മഹത്വം ഊട്ടിയുറപ്പിക്കുമ്പോൾ തന്നെ പെണ്കരുത്തിന്റെ മുഖം കൂടി വ്യക്തമാവുന്നുണ്ട്. പാർട്ണർഷിപ്പിൽ ഒരു തേപ്പുകട നടത്തുന്ന സജിയും നമുക്ക് അപരിചിതൻ ഒന്നുമല്ല. വൈകാരികത നിറഞ്ഞ മുഹൂർത്തങ്ങളെ തന്റെ അഭിനയ മികവുകൊണ്ട് അത്രമേൽ ഹൃദയത്തിൽ പതിപ്പിക്കാൻ സൗബിനെന്ന നടന് കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടുണ്ട്. സുഷിൻ ശ്യാമിന്റെ സംഗീതത്തിന്റെ ഒഴുക്കിൽ നമ്മൾ അറിയാതെ മനസ്സിനെ പറഞ്ഞയച്ചു പോവുന്നു, കുമ്പളങ്ങിയിലെ രാപ്പകലുകളോടൊപ്പം. എല്ലാ കഥാപാത്രങ്ങളും ഒന്നിനൊന്നു മത്സരിച്ചഭിനയിച്ചപ്പോളും, തന്റെ ഒരു ചെറു ചിരികൊണ്ട് ക്രെഡിറ്റ് മുഴുവൻ കീശേലിട്ടു കൊണ്ടുപോവുന്നുണ്ട് കുമ്പളങ്ങിയിലെ ഷമ്മി! " മോളേന്തിനാ ഇങ്ങനെ പേടിക്കുന്നെ " ന്നുള്ള ചോദ്യത്തോടൊപ്പം "സിമിയേ..!" ന്നുള്ള ആ നീട്ടി വിളി ആലോചിക്കുമ്പോ മനസ്സിലിപ്പോഴും ഒരു പിടച്ചിലാണ്. ആകെ മൊത്തം മനസ്സിപ്പോഴും ആ കുമ്പളങ്ങി വിട്ടിട്ട് ഇങ്ങു പോന്നിട്ടില്ലാന്നേ..❤❤
