Love the skirt and thank's to Your turtorial of how to flounce i've done it for a pencil skirt and for a shirt ❤and i'm in mourning because the textile centre does not deliver outside UK anymore 😥 we don't have that many places to buy fabric from here in Sweden. Back to drawing board and figure out what to do anyway your vlogs are always very inspirational 👍👍👍
@SewCustom6 жыл бұрын
That's so lovely to hear that you've flounced up a skirt and shirt👍👍👍and such a shame about the Textile Centre 👎we're the same here, not many places to buy fabrics so I'd be in mourning too if one of my online favourites stopped delivering here🙁good luck 🍀🍀🍀with the search and I hope you find a good alternate soon💕💕💕

Hi Suzanne. What is the circumference of your skirt before the flounce is added. I Have an A-Line skirt block but it seems very flared. It also has darts and a waistband which I don't want! If I ignore the darts and waistband and put interfacing as you have will that work. I'm a rank beginner but love this skirt. Many thanks. Joan
@joanevans54116 жыл бұрын
Lovely video. How did you make the pattern for the interfacing please?
@SewCustom6 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much Joan Evans💕👍💕 I traced the skirt pattern front and back along the waist and 5cms down the side seams. I then measured from the waist down 5cms the whole way across.👍👍👍

I have been watching you for a few months now and thoroughly enjoy. I have been sewing for more years than I care to think about but have always used patterns with the usual fitting problems, I have decided that I must try to make some blocks, I know that they will take time but it must save a great deal of time in the long run. Have you always had blocks or did you start with patterns? Thanks for the interesting videos.
@SewCustom6 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much Christine Martin, I'm glad you enjoy💕👍💕 Making my own blocks has been the best decision, sewing related, I've made👍👍👍 I started sewing with commercial patterns and did so for about 2 or so years but had the same problems you mention, in terms of fitting, which a lot of the time resulted in me loosing confidence 😞 the time I used to take for fitting is now spent on learning patterning 👍 Good luck with it if you do draft your own blocks, if you're anything like me you'll not look back🍀🍀🍀

Enjoyable watch as always. Attractive skirt. Would you mind saying where you got your pattern weights from, if you remember, and how many is it wise to have.
@SewCustom6 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much Jan Di Marco💕👍💕I'll try to find the link and put it the description box👍 for now though, they are large washers from B&Q, I can't remember how many are in a pack but I bought 2 and that seems to be sufficient for me so far👍👍👍

I notice you overlock your edges before sewing the straight stitch, any particular reason you do this? I’m a beginner and I sew pieces together first and overlock later, but always curious to learn new methods! Thank you!
@SewCustom6 жыл бұрын
It depends what I'm sewing Jessica, for this one it was just easier to finish the edges before stitching the seams. For the hem on these type of garments with these fabric types I like overlocking first as the width of the stitch provides a guide for pressing and bonus if the hem is fluted like this one you can pull on the overlock threads to reduce the width to help the hem fit neatly 👍

Cute! But you don't need darts?
@raraavis77826 жыл бұрын
Vicki Maiorano The curved waistband replaces the darts. Imagine a regular, straight waistband with darts in it...as you sew them closed, you’ll get exactly this curved shape. Works very well, unless maybe with an extremely curvy figure...than regular darts are better, because they reach farther down and allow for a more extreme adjustment.
@vickimaiorano57636 жыл бұрын
Thanks Rara. of course the darts were rotated into the A line.
