The Making of my Striped Dress with Princess Seams & Aline Skirt

Hi Folks, in this video I show how I made my striped dress. I played about with the direction of the stripes and love how it turned out. I would however add a note, I'm not sure how incorporating fabric cut on different grains affects the overall garment, I couldn't find anything to help me out online on the subject😟but you don't know until you try, eh, so I'll just have to wait and see once I've washed and worn the dress a few times😉 Anyway I hope you enjoy the video. So classy Suzanne! I wouldn’t have dared use a canvas, fearing it would be too thick. Did it shrink much on pre-washing? There’s a good choice of striped fabrics in canvas so it’s appealing. Like everyone says your videos are great, they’re a real treat. Well done.

Thanks so much 💕👍💕ordinarily canvas wouldn't have been my first choice but limited availability of good stripe designs definitely played a part in the decision to buy on this one😕. I didn't notice any shrinkage but I am worried about how the bodice will wash and wear over time for two reasons, the first being the different grains the pieces are cut on and the second, the interfaced pieces. I like the dress so much that I'm keeping everything crossed that it goes well🍀🍀🍀🤞🤞🤞🍀🍀🍀thanks again 💕

The material you used you said was a canvas and you can see in the video it's a "firm" fabric, I'm interested to know how it feels on... I've not used it yet as have been concerned that it'd be too stiff/thick/firm...x

Me too💕💕💕 on the canvas, this one is quite soft against the skin and I think is a perfect weight and structure for this skirt design 👍👍👍for the bodice, canvas wouldn't have been my choice but so far it feels nice (a bit like an 8oz denim) I am however waiting to see how it washes with the interfacing🍀🍀🍀🤞🤞🤞

Thanks so much 💕👍💕 this is second one I made, for the first I used about 2.5m of wide fabric as I cut the chevron pieces out a few times before I got it right😩 for this version I used my normal 2m of wide fabric and I probably had about a quarter of a meter left over👍👍👍
