It was very nice of Simon to credit Andrew Price for the tutorial he had to watch on realistic puddles, and it even wasn't a C4D tuto. People don't do this often this days even thou everybody knows we Motion Designers watch a ton of tutorials in most of the projects we do. Blender Guru (among others) & Blender affecting the whole MG industry and community -- proud!

What I would give to be taught this. It's so hard to find tutorials on this kind of stuff.
@Sikalafo828 жыл бұрын
You can learn that through experimentation, when the tutorial ends you start experimenting and pressing buttons. That's how you learn and develop your own ways of doing stuff and how to make it look unique.
@ArthurWhitehead8 жыл бұрын
blur My problem isn't how to learn it's there aren't many tutorials like this to learn off of.
@Sikalafo828 жыл бұрын
There is plenty, check NAB or SIGGRAPH
@Moneyaddthenmultiply8 жыл бұрын
Dude, AGREED. Check Cineversity for the NAB playlists. They hide the good stuff away from our prying eyes. It's just the way 3d is, really annoying sometimes, the obvious stuff is hidden away in some obscure corner of the web and nothing is intuitive. That's just how 3d is.
@Moneyaddthenmultiply8 жыл бұрын
blur, that's only so helpful. 3d software leaves a lot of newbies futilely slamming buttons and switches while the unfriendly little hidden menus give them no clues. Tutorials help a bit, but 9 times out of ten the way people learn things is not from stumbling on them by accident (these UIs NEVER seem to help anyway lol) but by a combo of tutorials, teamwork and happy accidents. I love and hate 3d because of this.

I know this video is old at this point but I would love to know how to achieve a similar effect of the part at 38:50 using vanilla C4D/without Octane. A simple answer or link would be so helpful!

how would one do the lasercut laserfog thing with the intersecting plane with an cinema 4d material?
@awaeraas6 жыл бұрын
Reading this answer, it is obvious to me that you did not pay attention to what he said in the video. Of course what you describe is one method, but they were suffering from longer rendertimes using that method as volumetric fog effect is heavier to calculate per frame, than to make use of a static world fog and then use the plane method as described
