they said TOTP was always had 2 sides for them. One you have to badly mime but Second it’s the only outlet for them at that time to be famous 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♀️

But it's all true. That was always the thing with TOTP. Always kind of cringeworthy (except when one was about 12 years old!) due to the miming, the naff dancing and (for some reason) an always slightly dejected looking audience - yet, it was THE main medium - almost the only weekly TV show, really for many years, where a band or artist could showcase their work to the masses in the UK, and get a real toe in the door of major chart success. So you did get great acts appearing on there, despite it being so uncool (as Roger said). It was just a really important show to be on, if you wanted mass audience recognition (as Brian said).

@James Rundle. Due toy ignorance of Queen in the 80s at least (was born in 1970), I have yet to explore all of Queen's songs. Apparently, my ex boss whattsapp me a month ago to say that he has ALL OF QUEEN'S VINYL RECORDS. Unfortunately, he hadn't even the time to go to any of Queen's concerts. 😲. I don't get it. He lived in UK growing up. 😔 At least I can ask him tonnes of questions.

Queen II will forever remain as one of the greatest stereophonic recordings ever made. That, along with ground breaking song styles make it a record of the ages. I dabble in record production myself. Whenever I need to be reminded of what a great record sounds like, I put this record on. In my humble opinion, every record producer should aspire to this level of perfection.

I would not be surprised if, in a living room sometime in the last forty years, somebody ran a Dungeons & Dragons game set in a world inspired by Freddie's various 'Rhye' songs. It'd be great to know if he'd written down more about that setting than we just get in a few songs.

first of all, the real queen! secondly... (and i know many could hate me for this... but i'm still convinced Brian is an intelligent man who can understand me...) i'm really fed up of how he always underlines how he did this, he created that, in Freddie's or others' songs... how many times did the opposite happen? what about Another one bites the dust? if it was for Brian, this masterpiece would not exist... sometimes his words make him appear presumptuous...hope he's not. I'm sorry, but i'm a bit angry of how things are going with Queen now. I lived side by side with Queen music, and Freddie.. it helped me so much in my life that sucks...and now i'm really disappointed.. I'm ready to all ur negative answers, i understand... but pls try to talk with respect...thx
@Dierkes3858 жыл бұрын

To be honest, I feel the same about him but respect him also off course. Mack has said similar things about Brian in numerous interviews. Now he is eventually the leader of the band and it seems that feels very comfortable with this role.... yea, and I am also disapponted about how things are going with Queen last years
@parkviewmo8 жыл бұрын
I hear that from Brian, too. The way I interpret his remarks is that the tension between Brian and Freddie was very real and probably the well-spring of the band's creativity and the breadth of their music. Freddie sounds pretty presumptuous too, to me, talking about he knows just what he wants the others to do.. Two big talents, two nice-size egos, and two very different human beings trying to work together. In the end it worked and gave us glorious music. Given that Brian was the last person recording with Freddie at then end, I suspect there was a deep respect and affection underneath the very real competition. Just another point of view.
@victipictimusic40428 жыл бұрын
I agree with you.There was a rivalry among them and Brian's ego and self esteem is high. Parkviewmo made a good point about Freddie being presumptuous especially during their first years. Sometimes it might look like Freddie took all the credit and did not express sufficient appreciation mostly to Brian and he did prioritize others over him. From an album Miracle they started sharing songwriting credits as Queen that was major breakthrough on professional and personal level.
