I think Aurora has one of the most beautiful singing voices of all the Disney princesses. Her and Cinderella.

Very cool to see how differently certain people animate. It's simply amazing to see the final product after knowing every frame and detail was pushed and worked on so diligently.

The one big undercurrent about Disney the man (and these things do make their way into the films he produced!) was his contentious relationship with women. You could theorize it went all the way back to the days when Margaret Winkler (somehow) played a big part in terminatng his early studio and his early involvement with Oswald the Rabbit. Whatever the case, the worst of Disney villains are the female ones -- best captured here, it seems, by Maleficent. Not only is she stereotypically frigid and blase, but quite sadistic too, The personification of the 'old hag' who loves company in her misery. It's tempting to call this an UNEXPRESSED current, whose full exploration might have come in some hateful uber-bad lady in a film never made -- but for me, the most vivid expression of that woman comes in the prison scene where she toys with Philip, in chains and helpless. You barely need a more unscrupulous lady, and so her death scene is about the most magnificent climax achieved in a Disney film, as well.

YearOfCam There's nothing "old hag"-ey about Maleficent's look. Maleficent doesn't have to be old to be into S&M.

Yes, the villains are women, but so are the protagonists! It makes a better story if both the protagonist and the villain are female. Not only do you have more emotional depth, but you also avoid any sexual abuse which would have made audiences extremely uncomfortable in the 1950's especially in a children's movie.

7:45 that’s Hans Conried in the middle and yes he was originally going to provide the voice for King Stefan but Taylor Holmes got the role which gave out unanswered questions and destroyed the truth regarding who voiced the Duke at the beginning of the film.

I just love the way how Mary Costa says "schoolgirl crush." But now I'm starting to think that Eddie Fisher should've been the voice of Prince Philip instead.
