Very Good Series! Watched it for both the drama AND the football!

I ignored series at first not being a big football fan but once I got into it I thoroughly enjoyed the drama. Highly recommended. There are many parallels with rugby. Rugby League was created in 1895 to allow the payment of its players whereas rugby union stayed amateur until 1996.

The show is really good but they said they’ve put all this effort into historical accuracy... Fergus didn’t play for the Blackburn team that is depicted winning the FA Cup in the series (in fact it didn’t actually exist - there were two Blackburn teams at the time and he played for the other one). Jimmy Love stopped playing football to join the Navy, not because of an injury. Aspects such as referees and goalposts hadn’t been invented by that time and the Blackburn team is wearing the colours of Burnley who were and are one of their rivals. The show is a really great watch and is really entertaining and enjoyable but if they’re going for a high level of historical accuracy like they’ve said then they seemed to have missed quite a lot.

In Rio de Janeiro there is a club that was very persecuted when it was Rio champion playing with black and poor players. For the elite, this should not be allowed and one of the ways to try to prevent the club from playing in the championship was by trying to prohibit the club from playing because it does not have a stadium. And then this club launched "The Campaign of the 10,000". The club dubbed Gigante da Colina joined 10,000 member-fans in order to save money to build their stadium. Many of the fans at the time were factory workers and that's how the club built its stadium. When built by its fans, this stadium at the time became the largest stadium in South America. This stadium was the stage for the first game of the 1998 Copa Libertadores da América final, in which this club won this cup. I'm sure that the history of the Club de Regatas Vasco da Gama and the São Januário Stadium would be wonderfully well told by you in this series. Thanks for reading until the end.

The locations of Saltaire, Keighley railway station and Little Germany in Bradford used in this film are very well chosen. A gorgeous series.

Along with Little Germany, Keighley Railway Station, and various locations in Saltaire, they also used at least two more locations in Bradford city centre, one of which I spotted for myself (which doubles for Glasgow), and one of which I was certain was nearby in Bradford but hadn't got around to searching for it yet (which is the illegal baby factory). However a few days ago when I noticed a local photographer had taken a photo near the first location, I asked him if he knew recognised the second location, and as I suspected, it was roughly 200 metres away on the next road through an archway in a building to a backstreet/courtyard. The backstreet/courtyard itself hasn't been recorded by Google Map car, however you can more or less see the filming angle from the main road through the archway.

In my opinion it was well played by the producers to include Blackburn Rovers ( the team Suter played for ) and also give credits to Blackburn Olympians ( the team that won the 1883 FA Cup ) they pretty much merged the 2 clubs as I believe in order to pay respect to both teams. Great series, I've seen it twice and I'm gonna rewatch it again. Please make more series about football in the 1800s. Thank you!

What's most appealing, and what makes it surprising that it's a Netflix film, is that at it's core it's about men and women driven by their moral compasses. You never see films about men doing what they believe is right, despite the opposition from others. It was so very refreshing.

Vineeth Patil that’s not strictly true back in that era their was two clubs from Blackburn, Blackburn Olympic and Blackburn Rovers, It seems in the series they kind of merge the two together because the team that beat old Etonians In the 1983 final was Blackburn, who Fergus Suter never played for, Fergus won the cup in 84 85 86 but he won them cups for Blackburn Rovers not Olympic

Great show, thoroughly enjoyed it! Couple of small things tho, Fergus Sutar played for Partick before Darwin not Partick Thistle which is said in this video, Partick were a team actually from Partick who are bust now, and Partick Thistle are from Maryhill and are still very much alive today. And in the film Jimmy Love breaks his leg, he never broke his leg in real life, he played 1 game for Darwin and never played for Blackburn Olympic, he left football to join the army, and he died of an enteric fever whilst on active duty in Egypt. That's just minor points tho, it was a great watch, and I'd recommend it too anyone

Practically every major character in *Game of Thrones* has filmed in *Bradford,* the world's first *UNESCO City of Film* and *UK City of Culture,* where this series was almost entirely filmed. *Kate Dickie* aka *Lysa Arryn* in *Game of Thrones* also plays the lead characters mum in this. Practically every major character in ITV's *Downton Abbey* and the BBC's *Peaky Blinders* have appeared in *Bradford* filmed productions too, but then again *Peaky Blinders* was mainly filmed in *Bradford* contrary to what most people believe, so obviously all the major characters have filmed here. *Mark Addy* and *Sean Bean* are the *Game of Thrones* actors who have filmed in *Bradford* more than most obviously, as they're both from *Yorkshire.* On my count, *Mark Addy* has appeared in at least 8 *Bradford* filmed productions, and *Sean Bean* has appeared in at least 4 *Bradford* filmed productions.

I liked the series, but am astonished that Fergus Suter did not play in the FA cup final where the first working class team(Blackburn Olympic) beat the public school graduates. Instead he won the three finals after that with the team he actually played for, Blackburn Rovers. What kind of creative licence is that? You cannot just make up a team, a match and therefore the score. Fergus Suter played for the town rivals of the team that beat the Old Etonians

Great show...but dont tell us about authenticity and make Blackburn play in claret....pure insult. Neither Rovers nor Olympic ever played in claret... Would've been a perfect show if you would've got that right. Shame.

I'm glad I am not the football fan to be put of by historical innacuacies in this show. While the underlying premise may be ok, he took artistic liberties too far, and left out plenty that could have enhanced the series. IE Darwin's drawing twice with old Etonians for example. The fact they didn't distinguish between the two Blackburn teams really annoyed me.

Apparently everything is English! All England club (Wimbledon) anyone, Inter-varsity anyone, Queenbury rules anyone? oh yeah,they are all Welsh. Even rugby is based on the ancient Celtic game of Cnapan.
