I hope these guys had a world of fun creating the monster plantation. And I sure as hell hope they are proud of themselves for this magnificent work of art.

2:14 I dunno about u but that design is better than the design today. Also, why did they decide on a "sunken plantation"?

I've always kind of liked the "avian" concept design for Mizzy Scarlet, although the design we ultimately ended up with is unique in that it portrays the character as being sort of a cross between a monster and a human, something that never shows up anywhere else in the ride. I also think her finalized design is a little bit more suitable for her eccentric personality. The setting of the sunken plantation house (at least for the beginning of the ride) was chosen because it was something that would accentuate both the attraction's distinct Deep South motif and its bizarre factor.

@@okefenokee_rabbit I'm not sure what the bizzare bit is but that must've been how we got it as a water ride

By the way, it's crazy to know that this was filmed in 1980 because this looks like the 1970s 😆

VHS type cams didn’t really come publicly available until the mid to late 80s, so early 80s form of filmed media was still done on 16mm

That painting was actually added during the 2009 revamp. In fact, I don't think you would have even been able to make out the picture at all if it were in the original Monster Plantation, because the opening scene prior to 2009 was lit very dimly.
