Without a doubt, Down in the Hole - even though it barely defines it - _carries_ this album. To me, Emotional Rescue is _the one with that song on it._ It might actually be stronger than any single song on Some Girls; and I absolutely adore that album.

@@chromatinone It would be interesting to take a poll of asking fans to list the songs on ER..... I Would say true fans, know the potency of the song. I can never tire of it! I can only imagine how low it would be mentioned on a list.

I recently bought the El Mocambo vinyl set based on one of your videos. I hope nobody gives you flack for these vids using footage or using stones music. You’re basically providing them free advertising, and it’s a win win! Because the El Mocambo vinyl is perhaps my favorite record I own at the moment. Thanks to you! You’re a legend for these, so well done ✌️❤️

I'll second that emotion: I got EL MOCAMBO for Xmas, based on this series of KZbin videos. I also have to say EMOTIONAL RESCUE is my "sleeper Stones album". Though the popular opinion is that it is a lesser release, compared with the albums on either side of it, I disagree. To my ears, it's fun, it's got lots of variety and the depth of production means it's an album I can listen to without ever growing bored with it. Your analysis confirms what a quality product it is. p.s. Thanks for sharing your concert story.

thank you both! nice comments. Very cool to hear the EL MO buy! It is a MUST HAVE for RnR, never mind Stones fans. Mind blowing how good it is. Yes, I hope I do not hear anything from outside folks. The owner/complainers, do not even watch the videos...if they get notified their work is used, they do not even view the content, they just issue the complaint and a STRIKE. Luckily I have been aggressive and reach out to the owners and work it out.

The first time I heard "Everything's Turning To Gold" was on a diner jukebox where my mom and I would stop for lunch sometimes. She'd give me a few quarter's and I would play some Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Barbara Mandrell, and then it would be MY turn to select. Stones always. I am only 9:41 into Flipside's review and analysis of ER, but I certainly anticipate that we will more about the Sucking In The Seventie's" release. It was really brutal - in a very good way 🙂

What I will honestly say....I have been buying the recent LIVE albums the past few years.....they are still great to own and listen to....but the Stones became a 70-80% hits show, so there is repetition. They do not JAM out, and have songs last as long they use to. Well hopefully you own El Mocambo Live....my next project is all about Jumping Jack Flash, just the song.....I just listened to it on that album. It is beyond chilling to listen to it. Just finished off the trio of the Emotional Rescue documentaries. You really bring music history back to life! I find the discussion of the music tracks fascinating. Your doc really has given me a more positive view of the ER LP. My favorite tracks include “Dance,” “She’s So Cold,” and “Let Me Go.” I’ve currently got the first two on a workout playlist, and will be adding the third shortly. I enjoyed hearing your story of going to the Soldier Field concert for the Stones’ Babylon tour, without a ticket in hand. I have a bit of a similar story when I went to see them on their Steel Wheels 1989 tour at Carter-Finley stadium in Raleigh NC. Like you, I had no ticket for the concert. As I was tooling down the highway in my 1967 VW convertible at the time, I had placed a large “ STONES CONCERT TICKET WANTED” sign in my back window, in the hopes another concertgoer would see it. As luck would have it, I did score a ticket for not too hefty a price ($75 back then?) and managed to see them perform. I also bought a tour T-shirt as a memento. Good times!

Finally had time to watch this video and it's a nice wrap on the Emotional Rescue era. I've always really liked the music on this album but lyrically it's one of their weakest. It's still nice to put on though as it's like Black And Blue where none of the songs are over played on classic rock radio. Got to say I love the energy on Where The Boys Go and what a great live track it would have been, Down In The Hole is one of their best blues tracks. Look forward to the next episode, whatever album it may be. I love all of their catalogue so keep them coming.

Just love all your videos but I loved this video even more because no one ever talks about this album and your background history is so great..Being 56 in the old days our only way of seeing anything was Midnight Special or reading in Rolling Stone or NME etc.. You obviously have done a lot of work to do this and I appreciate this! I was searching for your Exile on Main Street but can't find it..Have you done this because I know you love this era...Anyway I agree with what you say about Mick..I have been watching the latest Stones tour shows on You Tube and so impressed with Mick Jagger ruling the stage and sounding really awesome at 79!! This was great. I always discounted Emotional Rescue. I used this documentary as a way to relisten and I'm glad I did. It's not Some Girls, but it definitely deserved a second shot with me. My earliest memories involve hearing the song Emotional Rescue playing on my dad's reel to reel. Who knew that would be my jumping off point. I bought the CD many years ago, but it fell to the back of the stack. The relisten made me appreciate Down in a Hole, Summer Romance, Where the Boys Go and Let Me Go. She's So Cold was always a favorite, and I would wager that it's my wife's favorite Stones song (she's not a big fan, but all marriages have their challenges). I did it again...watched your great review. You have a way of doing these reviews that keep ya coming back. Love your style. Thanks again for putting your heart into this and doing what you do. Love the Chicago soldier field story. Ah those Rolling Stones concert memories. I have 7 to draw back on 89-2021 in Pgh,Pa. And at the end you went into the Tattoo You album. So I'm assuming that's next? Either way I'm rambling and I'm looking forward to your next project. T.Y.

cool response, thank you for appreciating these and the efforts. As a fan, I watch these also. I am NOT one for being predictable, I go with my gut on what I do next. I have become so absorbed recently to Jumpin Jack Flash. So I am working on a deep dive into Dec 67' to May 68 on the recording and playing of this. I feel many of us overlook this tune, and needed to bring up and about.

Here's something that threw me at first. @1:16:00 check out Charlie Watts doing his best Glenn Frey impersonation. And R.I.P. to both of those great musicians. Now to this 3 part review of the Emotional Rescue Album. A fine example of a real Stones fan putting his best effort into why you should become a fan of this group. I love how you go song to sing & not a side A. & B. comparison. Track listing 101. Another great well thought out effort here. But that's one more reason I sub'd a long while ago.🏆🔥👄👍🏻

Hi Steve, I can't believe I wasn't aware of your videos until recently! I was listening once again to the vinyl reissue of "El Mocambo" and wanted to see if I could find a video with more in depth info of what I knew of the shows, and lo and behold I found your videos on '77 about all of the Toronto whirlwind era. Well that was a couple of weeks ago and I haven't stopped binge watching every Stone-related material non-stop! Loved them and the in-depth detail you present! I feel like I have many stories I could tell you of my own journey loving this band since about puberty at the break of the 80's for me, I've bought most releases and singles, SACD's etc. And I was lucky enough to be living in Argentina at the time and seeing the Winos from the front row, and then the Stones 3 of the 5 nights they played in 93. Many other stories like being a DJ n South America in the 80's and making the live version of "Crackin' Up" from that wonderful side 3 of Love You Live an absolute hit in the club where I played. I will definitely be checking out your upcoming videos, I am crossing my fingers you will keep the chronology and take us on a journey of Tattoo you and the subsequent tour. I wonder how much you will talk about the famous Hampton Coliseum closing show on Keith's birthday, that's a special one to me as well, I take a photo of the venue every summer I go down to the Carolinas, and blast the whole reissues concert as I drive, I can't help myself. Cheers!!!

Thank you for being onboard now and being in sync. I just got so tired of short info videos and people reading off of Wikipedia and repeating the same BS over and over. We fans deserved more. So I stepped in, as I approach this as a true deep fan. So I am honestly glad you found this, as fills in many gaps for many of us. On top of that, we need to teach folks how to listen and keep the beat going with other generations. There is a book out LOVE YOU LIVE with stories from fans.....I am sure we could compile another big one. thanks for sharing yours. I wish I could own more of their material. I will let you know that I like to hear what folks like and want to hear for me to do next. However, I just go with how and what I feel at a moment. I have started my new doc, and it is about the song JJFlash and the creation. As I am finding and gathering some cool details.. Cheers and thanks again

Awesome video. Thank you for making these. I agree with your track by track almost 100%. I love send it to me. A real gem and a favorite. Indian girl is excellent too. More importantly, you made a point I've always agreed with: this album put out today would get rave reviews. If any other band had put it out in it's time, it would be praised as a ground breaking genre-defying album. The stones are underrated in the genre defying department. Seems like every album they put out through '83, and even later, contains at least one song that is both great and unique in the stones catalog. I don't understand the line of critique that faults the band for stylistic variation. To me, it's a real virtue.

Yo Steve, so glad you got around to ER-#3.😊 just a fantastic evaluation and in-depth look to these songs! Again, covering a great time frame and stones history. There’s not a whole Lotta known about it for the younger fans. you really lay it all out there for everybody, though I really enjoyed this one also. Again, couple of faces that I didn’t know or maybe forgot about who participated on the record, especially Michael Shreve from Santana. That’s one that slipped by me in the past I forgot all about him being on the record all great contributions on this one. Lots of different, percussion things and instruments, and yes, it was a lot of beautiful guitar work if you listen good you covered all the good blues and rock songs on there also. Great job! I loved every minute of it. this is a special one for me because you have a great story that you told it hits home for me because I have a similar one I was all by myself. No tickets available at the time but I went down to the stadium anyway nobody to go with. the only difference in mine was that I only found a five dollar bill got in by way of elevator at the last minute, and I also got very close to a front row seat. This was at that stadium in Philadelphia. Like you, my mindset was that I was going down there and I was getting in the geeks and it’s just had me consumed, I had to go. Well, look flipside, you know, I admire everything you do and look forward to as always seeing anything that you do next.(I also check out your record buys also). we are all fortunate to have you on the tube, and look man, you are the king of rock docks. keep it going, keep it rockin, and I’ll talk to you next time. Cheers, my friend.!!!🎉.oh, some corrections are in order-that was vet sadium and I was consumed by the geekness. All right, then, Steve till next time.- Philly DC.

Had a day off today and got stuck into this. Excellent work. I have always loved this album. Great tunes of all styles on it. An album for fans. Steve, you brought up something that never occured to me, I always wondered why some of the Later albums after Sticky Fingers and Some Girls were different. Though still sounding good, The albums seemed to be missing something. That "something" was the gut wrenching sound of Keith's Open tuned Telecaster that you pointed out. Songs like "Cant you hear me Knocking" are an example. Using open tuning on his Telecaster Keith could lay down amazing intro's to their songs. So I have toThank You for pointing that out. Your work on these documentarys proves when a person loves his work the end result is usually a quality product.
