The technical innovations first realized in F1 during the '90's are now just starting to take hold on road cars today (Semi-automatic gearbox, traction control, active suspension). With no more technical innovation coming from F1, how do we expect to develop any new road car technology over the next 20 years?

@Brayds I know about the Newey X1. . But in race-trim it could have an electronic top speed limit like most german cars and/or a lower power output coupled with less fuel and fuel flow restriction. . That way performance, efficiency and relevance would be combined. . What we have today are very inefficient racecars aerodynamic wise (way too much aero drag witch adds lots of turbulence) and a lot of unnecessary ballast for balance.

agreed. this car would be quite driven off the track by the equally dominant F2002, which isn't even today's technology.

Not if it used the same rubber as a 2002 car. People forget how the evolution of tires since the early 90's is responsible for a large portion of the lap time improvements. Don't kid yourself.

i would like to see a comparison between this car and a car of nowadays to see which goes faster do ypu have any idea?

True, Grand Prix racing was about pushing the envelope back then. Today it's just freezes, bans and restrictions. It's not real automotive racing anymore.

the whole faster not faster debate is hilarious... these electronic dream f1 cars were overtaken by less electro managed cars of the mid 90s... superior aero!
@JG-dx5wi4 жыл бұрын
Not hardly. Superior rubber, which has nothing to do with the car's aero is responsible for most of the gains. Aero volumes became much more restricted after these cars.
