Not a scientist but a trained observer: i had always wondered why the cart wheels were illustrated as large as they were but having seen the Oregon trail ruts and now these, I understand. It placed them above the ground and lined the cart high enough to allow the drawing animals be at a functional level.

Bingo! A copy of my comment: Or, a heavy vehicle over soft terrain, 1 time. Like the Ancient footprints found in Limestone. They may very well be in the era of all the Geo-Megalific Anomalies, which appear to be "pre-flood". It is not wise to ignore the more obvious. The start point is to: Prove what age, prove Bronze Age, Neolithic, etc. Beth Bartlett Sociologist/Behavioralist and Historian

@@bethbartlett5692 The super strong solar activity alter the climate(rain) and volcanic activity, so we end with a lot of mud/volcanic ash, then the high energy from the super strong solar activity also creates the instant fossilization. The age? Maybe from the last planet reset, Younger Dryas. When I learned about instant fossilization, the image of Lot's wife(Genesis 19) came to mind. Alexander Koltypin analysis of the Phrygia Valley "cart ruts" shows that they were made by motorized vehicles(lack of animal track) with independent suspension for each wheel! We have "cart ruts" everywhere even in the Americas like in Texas(USA) and Paraíba(Brazil). The "cart ruts" in the USA do not match the pattern that a typical USA model cart would leave. Anyone who lives in rural areas or practice off-roading can clear see without any doubt that many "cart ruts" are indeed fossilized motorized(lack of animal track) vehicles tracks.

More Bronze Age evidence; the obvious inundation of roads clearly leading under the sea that I think are exciting. The tracks point the way to underwater settlements inundated likely early in the Bronze Age at a time when sea level rise seemed still a threat. Do the tracks underwater lead into the ocean on the eastern and southern approaches to the islands? Do they lead into the strait between your two main islands? Follow the Yellow Brick Road with an expedition into that shallow Sea and maybe hit the Bronze Age jackpot. SZ

I lived in st Julian’s,and as I a 14 year old was intrigued by the tracks which frequently cross when leading down to the sea.The deforestation of the island will have also played a part in the tracks creation for reasons unknown,ship building perhaps.

Yup, you're right, couldn't pass this up and another informative video. I think that the ruts were deliberately carved cart ruts to get from one place to another on that limestone mountain, but where to? Do they go to potential ports or settlements? Were they part of a general transportation network on the islands? It struck me listening to you that there is one aspect of this mystery, one smoking gun, that would solve the whole problem of when the carts were built and the ruts were made. The mystery is already partly solved. And it is this. The oxen wouldn't be shod to prevent their slippage on the escarpment but the cartwheels used would have to be 'shod', rimmed in either bronze or iron but metal in any case. Wooden wheels would have disintegrated after a few days traveling on rough stone. Just chewed up. Any examples of ancient carts in the collections on your island? So early Bronze age at the earliest (perhaps) based on that detail, the wheel rim, certainly by the Iron Age, but it sounds like Bronze Age. Where did the wood for carts come from? What is the pattern of Bronze Age or Iron Age settlements on the islands and do they relate to the roads? Thanks, SZ

I finally found the time to watch your vid Laura. The cart rut mystery fascinates me. Many questions. I would assume this is a transportation route. If so.......I like the idea that the wheels are large diameter made out of planks. The cost of installing iron or bronze tread rims would have been enormous back then. So I wondered if limestone could be worn down by hardwoods over time. Shrinking iron rims on a wooden wheel back then would be the equivalent of buying titanium rims for my 2002 Dodge Caravan. I googled the question about the ability to wear down limestone with a wooden wheel only.........all I seem to get is info about countertops. I restructured questions over and over again.........same silly results. I ain't giving up.

I speculate that the rutting is created by the dragging of ropes used to roll loads along their paths. Friction wear is consistent with the depth of the rutting where wheels actually aren’t. And yes there is conceivable ways to use a wrap,around heavy loads, to roll them to them destination.

I think you mean correlation does not mean causation, there is clear correlation but it could just be circumstantial, as you say they could be near quarries because that is where the limestone is that needs to be traversed. However as the mass required to cause the ruts is only really explained by transporting lime stone this does imply causation. Not only in their purpose but also in their very creation.

@@Stan-b3v You are correct of course, I am guilty of listening to the historians tale of the turns being too tight for skids to turn inside, the tighter turns may have been created at a much later date. This doesnt make sense at all. Deep ruts being eroded implies ALOT of traffic over a very long time. How big are the quarries??? The amount of stone removed doesnt seem enough to cause such traffic as to create such deep erosion. I doubt they were eroded by use, and still not convinced at all they were used by carts.

Malta was definitely around in the first century. Paul was aboard a ship after standing before Festus and Agrippa. He was going to Rome to stand before Ceasar. Which was either Claudius or Nero. While on the ship, bad weather hit, and the ship ran aground, and they all swam to shore on an island called malta. Of course, the book of Acts doesn't talk about the cart-ruts, but why would it? What it does say is that the islanders were foreign speaking. So they didn't speak Latin, Greek, or Hebrew. It also says they were really nice people. Others, not the bible, say they may have been giants. 😂😅. The bible talks of the principal man of the island, Publius. Who is a St in the Roman Catholic Church. Feast day Jan 22 and in the orthodox March 13. 🤔, Pope Francis =122, and Jorge became Pope on March 13th. Now we're talking about the order of St John of Jerusalem or Knights of Malta or Knights Templar. Which has to do with John of Brienne, more than John the Baptist. Otherwise, the fourth council of lateran would not have happened, nor 10/13/1307, for that matter. So maybe those cart- ruts are like the underground railroad in America? Or just routes of the slave trade before the America's. It's more like the slave trade if I were to guess. Peace
@flamencoprof

The "undergound railroad" is a figure of speech referring to a social phenomenon of covert travel and accommodation. It was not a physical railroad, which would have been obvious to and destroyed by the slaving culture.
