Born in an era of War, Cholera epidemics, Typhus, Typhoid, Pneumonia-Diarrhoea complex in children, Measles, Smallpox, Diphtheria and Dysentery rife throughout Salford. Henry LaMont aged 39 years old (1907-1946), died in the 'Park House WorkHouse' (Later becomming the 'Springfield Hospital') being placed there when his mother died. After having spent his life secluded from the hostilities and diseases of public life by his mother, Clara Maud Cooper (1867-1946) - the second wife of Charles Cooper (1855-1931). After losing her husband and the father to her son Henry, Clara protected her son by keeping him 'house-bound' not wanting to suffer another heartbreak. Thank you for uploading.

Maybe Henry's mother was frightened of losing him as she lost her husband. Keeping him in the kitchen because he couldnt see the outside world and what wonders he would experience if she let him out. I had a few tears in my eyes listening to this story. How sad and certainly as a mother pulls at the heartstrings. Ant the poem was lovely. The way you film and the words you use is phenomenal. This story is so sad and brought tears to my eyes, thank you for telling Henry’s story. I’ve just read an article about Henry on the Mcr General Cemetery Transcription Project Website. It says Henry attended school regularly up until the age of 9 but then his Mother took him out of school and the authorities forgot about him. I’m not sure how factual that is but if it is true it suggests that Henry was in a school for children with special needs if he was unable to dress himself and talk properly. Also what did his Mother and Father tell the neighbours? Did they move House after removing Henry from school so their new neighbours didn’t know of Henry’s existence? Also Henry’s Father didn’t die until 1931, Henry would have been about 24 then, therefore he must have been keeping his Son locked up in the kitchen too unless he didn’t live with him. Both parents must have had mental health issues. I feel so sad for Henry, RIP Henry Lamont Cooper ❤

This was fantastic!! Honestly really enjoyed it. The way you make videos like this is gripping, like a book that you just can't put down. 😀 I'm really excited for the rest of the series, especially after seeing the thumbnails that you posted the other day! Well done on making a little known story into such an excellent video. You're one of the most talented KZbinrs in your genre!! 👍👍👍

I've watched the video and read some research and it says that he attended normal school up to the age of 9. His father died and his mother took him out of school. Presumably he was of normal mental growth up to that point, but when found 30 years later, he couldn't talk or dress himself. It's always possible that some physical trauma had happened to him rendering him mentally disabled and given that people with a learning disability would be thrown into an institution. His mum had lost her husband and she probably locked her son away from the authorities in case they took him off her. It was probably more than she could bear. Park House was Crumpsall Workhouse/hospital, for "mentally feeble", orphans and paupers. What mother would want her precious child to go there. And also this was the days before the NHS.

I just asked a question about whether he had an intellectual disability. Poor child and man.

Such a sad story. Clara must have had severe mental and abandonment issues to keep him locked away from the world and the life that he so deserved to live, away from her clutches. Heartbreaking for sure. RIP. 😢 Thank you, Anthony for another great story. Your work is greatly appreciated. 🫶

It goes to show what goes on behind closed doors and that the world outside is oblivious too 😮 Well researched pal and you got a grave to visit as well. Up here they can be a bugger to find.
