Yes we have to put ourselves out there! I’ve met my most recent partners at; the grocery store (he worked there!), and the other two men at work. I absolutely will not on line date as I’ve had experiences meeting low quality men (and very bad experiences) on line. I believe that meeting organically in person just in the course of life is the best bet. I definitely do not have a problem making the first move, sometimes men are intimidated so making the first move is good! I’ve found partners doing that. Just strike up a conversation with the man, say something about the weather, or anything you can think up that applies in the situation to let him know that he has a green light to conversate with you. I also very much agree with not being locked into a type bc a person with an amazing personality and shared interests and values can become absolutely sexy and handsome once you come to know him better.
