Took my daughter to a small family italian place. They always made HUGE plates of pasta. Decided because I was tight money wise that week to have her order what she wanted, and I'd just take a couple bites, that way I would still have enough for a decent tip for the waitstaff. Italian women don't play. She saw me eating off my daughter's plate, and said, "No, no, no, mammas need to eat too!" and came back with a second plate. I explained that I only had enough for the one plate plus tip, and she said to just come back for another meal, and pay it forward. I got so choked up, and she gave me a hug. I went there often until they sold the place when her and her husband retired. Apparently she did that kind of stuff all the time, went and looked at her google reviews for the restaurant, dozens of people with pretty similar stories. They had a big retirement party, and anyone and everyone was invited. I only eat at locally owned restaurants now.

The creation of atomic bombs is a complex and highly technical process involving sophisticated scientific principles and advanced engineering techniques. These weapons derive their explosive power from nuclear reactions, either fission or a combination of fission and fusion. This essay outlines the fundamental processes involved in making atomic bombs, focusing on the scientific principles, the materials used, and the engineering challenges. Scientific Principles: Fission and Fusion At the core of an atomic bomb’s design are the principles of nuclear fission and fusion. Fission involves the splitting of heavy atomic nuclei (such as uranium-235 or plutonium-239) into lighter nuclei, releasing a vast amount of energy, neutrons, and gamma rays. This process is initiated when a neutron collides with the nucleus of a fissile atom, causing it to become unstable and split. Each fission event releases additional neutrons, which can then induce further fission reactions in a chain reaction. Fusion, on the other hand, involves the merging of light nuclei, such as isotopes of hydrogen (deuterium and tritium), to form heavier nuclei, releasing energy. This process powers hydrogen bombs, which use a fission bomb as a trigger to achieve the extremely high temperatures and pressures needed for fusion. Materials Used: Fissile and Fusionable Materials The primary materials used in atomic bombs are fissile isotopes like uranium-235 and plutonium-239. Uranium-235 is naturally occurring but must be enriched from its more common isotope, uranium-238, to increase its concentration. Enrichment is typically achieved through gas centrifugation or gaseous diffusion. Plutonium-239 is not naturally occurring and is produced in nuclear reactors by irradiating uranium-238 with neutrons. The irradiated uranium is then chemically separated to extract plutonium. For hydrogen bombs, additional materials such as deuterium and tritium are required. Deuterium is extracted from heavy water, while tritium is produced in nuclear reactors or bred from lithium-6. Engineering Challenges: Design and Assembly The design and assembly of atomic bombs involve addressing several engineering challenges to ensure the weapon’s functionality and safety. 1. Implosion-Type Design: For plutonium-based bombs, an implosion-type design is commonly used. This involves surrounding a plutonium core with conventional explosives arranged symmetrically. When detonated, these explosives compress the plutonium core to a supercritical state, initiating a chain reaction. Precision in the timing and uniformity of the explosive lenses is crucial for achieving the necessary compression. 2. Gun-Type Design: For uranium-based bombs, a simpler gun-type design can be employed. This design involves shooting one sub-critical piece of uranium-235 into another using conventional explosives, thus achieving a supercritical mass. The gun-type design is less efficient and bulkier but was used in the “Little Boy” bomb dropped on Hiroshima. 3. Fusion Boosting and Thermonuclear Designs: More advanced bombs, such as the hydrogen bomb, incorporate fusion boosting. In these designs, a fission bomb acts as a trigger, compressing and heating a fusion fuel (deuterium and tritium) to initiate fusion. This significantly increases the bomb’s explosive yield. Thermonuclear bombs, or hydrogen bombs, employ a two-stage process where a primary fission explosion triggers a secondary fusion explosion, resulting in vastly higher energy release. 4. Safety Mechanisms: Ensuring the bomb remains safe and does not detonate accidentally is paramount. Modern designs include various safety mechanisms such as environmental sensors, electronic locks, and physical barriers that prevent unauthorized or accidental detonation.

Nuclear weapons are weapons of mass destruction that can cause near unparalleled destruction and most were designed during an era in the Cold War when nuclear weapons were meant to show power over others the arms race had made so of the most iconic nuclear weapons such as the ICBM, Minute men, tsar bomba, and more each having unique and distinctive characteristics that could either make them more wanted for special purposes as such the ICBM ( Inter continental ballistic missile) often is used for very long range and carries a payload of multiple war heads for maximum destruction while the minute men could be used like a anti ICBM to intercept them and the TSAR BOMBA was a nuclear bomb that could be deployed and detonated via bomber plane and is the strongest nuclear weapon ever detonated going far beyond the expected range of testing

I could see in their faces how they understood is a better deal but uncomfortably stuck with the adults one cause having a kid's meal in the restaurant was embarrassing. @jorijs22024 ай бұрын
Um no, most venues (in Australia at least) have pretty much no profit margin on their kids meals in order to bring in families. Adults are not allowed to order kids' meals for this reason. It makes it cheaper for families, but the venue still needs to make some profit so adults pay full price. Pretty much the same as a child concession ticket.
@joanneaugust66114 ай бұрын
@jorijs2202 Well, if that's the case, then that makes sense. But I can tell you from looking at that portion that 4.99 GBP is a fair price (as this video is a couple of years old). Just like he says: NOT a concession. If this same portion was sold for 2 quids, that's a different story. But as a customer, you can literally do some calculating, comparing prices on the menu to see if there's a concession going on or not. If there clearly isn't, I see nothing wrong with standing up for yourself like this guy did. I've never been to Australia, so I couldn't compare experiences there, but at least over here in Germany items on the children's menu are usually not as valuable as "proper" meals. Not self-made, but ready food, for example. Usually just pasta with tomato sauce, chips, chicken nuggets - that sort of thing. So not only because of the portion size, but also because of the quality of the food, it's definitely a fair price. Working at a restaurant myself, it have never ever seen an adult try to order a kid's menu - the oldest was a 16-year-old girl. But if they wanted to, I would see no reason why they shouldn't.

The reasoning behind stores doing stuff like this is that in their mind if they allow it then adults will tend to eat child meals which in turn means they’re making less money than if adults can only buy adult meals. This is pretty silly though because most adults won’t order off the kids menu just because it’s cheaper, and even if a small quantity do that really should not eat into your profits enough that it’s worth the bad PR something like this incident would cause. Sometimes businesses will provide discounts and loss leaders to make up for money in other ways. In this case, the restaurant might even be taking a slight loss on the children's menu (or not enough profit to cover wages and other overhead), because it'll entice more parents to eat there. In a parallel case, it would be like a young adult walking in and asking to order off the senior citizen's discount menu.
@AlejandroGonzalez-ft4si4 ай бұрын
@@adenm8963 yeah but making some amount of money isn’t enough to sustain a restaurant long term. Ideally, you want to make enough profit to support the owners life and some to reinvest in the business. If the profits aren’t enough for the owner to live or to expand the business then despite making profit the business isn’t really being successful.
