I am reminded while watching this documentary about Jennings of a movie I saw recently called 'canterbury tales' produced by pressburger & galiat. Full length movie which I think was strongly influenced by Jennings like images & themes. Wonderful luminous humane work. I am so glad I got to see it!

Lots of interesting questions arise from this documentary. For example: to what extent did B&W cinematography contribute to the Jennings effect . . . and how did it do so (?)

Surely his films have dated as those of Sucksdorff and Joris Ivens have not,,,despite what Lindsay Anderson said about him

Just wish people would stop referring to the whole of the UK as "England". Incorrect, ignorant and unecessary. Especially in a context that features clips from a doc about a Welsh mining village. If anyone ever referred to the whole of the UK as "Wales", they'd rightly be treated as a weirdo.
