For me its the complete opposite. Thank God for drugs had such a industrial experimental feel which is still in the final product but no where near as good as the original. I feel like rick rubin streamlines music too much. I know that it makes the music more palatable but it loses its rawness in the process. Vultures has that rawness and energy that Ye's music has been missing and seeing how the casuals reacted to it, I guess im in the minority 🤷♀

i would consider thank god for drugs' early versions of yeezus songs and scrapped songs way better than the finished product. the tracks had so many little details and off-the-wall experimental elements, that not a single industrial hip-hop album had at the time. when rick rubin came into the picture, he removed all the little details that'd make the album an actual experimental masterpiece. yeezus was neutered by rubin so heavily that i cannot think about the album without seeing ricky ruin it. the fact that the album was cut down to 10 tracks is really good but even with cutting up a 3 hour album the experience still was inconsistent. guilt trip, i'm in it, send it up and i am a god are way worse than the rest of the tracklist. almost incomparable in quality.

I was waiting for a comment like this. I have the exact same thoughts and dislike rubin heavily for taking out what yeezus could've been. Yeezus is my favorite ye album yet I can tell upon first listen that its really neutered and doesnt really embrace its industrial theme. it only lightly touches it here and there. The album could've been so much more. The leaks were amazing and I wish we had gotten that album instead.
