Today’s Freaky Friday episode tells the brave story of Rob Parkes, who survived years of lies, deceptions, and domestic abuse from his ex-wife, labeled the 'Black Widow' by the media. But her real name is Victoria Breeden.
Their relationship began at university in 1999, and almost immediately, Victoria started controlling Rob. He had to act a certain way, be "enough of a man" for her, and she kept him away from his friends and a normal life.
After university, they got married and had a daughter together. This meant Victoria was no longer the sole focus of his attention, and she hated that. Her coercion and abuse intensified until, four years into their marriage, Rob couldn’t take it anymore.
In April 2008, they finally separated, and Rob tried to move on with his life. But Victoria had other plans, and a long, terrifying custody battle began. Rob faced not only the fight for his daughter but also the chilling lengths Victoria went to maintain control.
Over the years, she spread horrific and vile lies about Rob, convincing everyone he was dangerous. It's why, she claimed, he had to die...
Victoria seduced six different men to kill him. She even orchestrated a shocking arson attack at his family home in the dead of night. But it wasn't until she tried to hire someone to make Rob disappear for good that her web of lies finally began to unravel.

I would sit in the nurses office bathroom until they would agree to send me home. I got on the depo shot shortly after at 15 and lived a completely normal life. That was until about 3 years after I got off of it, at about 23. I was in excruciating pain for a week, emotional and exhausted the week before and after. I had one week a month that I could function like a normal human. I just got off it again so I can get a diagnosis of either endo or adeno, my mother has adenomyosis. I want to get a laproscopic ablation surgery and try for a baby. I hope everyone in these comments finds something that helps them with this awful debilitating disease. ❤

Chronic illness buddies take note! If you feel like a burden for needing to be cared for or someone tells you that you are, THIS IS WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE WHEN IT’S MALICIOUS!! You NEEDING help is fine. Specifically doing it only when someone needs to leave TO stop them from leaving (not needing them when they happen to be leaving, ON PURPOSE) is when it’s wrong! (And thanks to Eleanor for highlighting that difference! We need to hear it sometimes 💕)

This case resonates with me. My ex has M.E and she was my first proper girlfriend. She held me to unrealistically high standards and emotionally manipulated me. She tried to cut me off from certain family members by accusing them of things they didn't do. She often played the victim and never held herself accountable for anything she did wrong. Me being naive and inexperienced I thought the problem was with me. I tried so hard to change for her and was constantly trying to do better but it was never enough. I wish I had the backbone and sense to end the relationship earlier. To top it all off she accused me of abuse after we broke up. Never have I felt so betrayed by someone I cared about. People for your own good. Know how and when to stand up for yourself.

I'm so glad you are okay and got diagnosed and treated. It took me 5 years to get diagnosed with Adenomyosis. A female gynecologist once told me "women have pelvic pain and sometimes there is no reason for it, we just have to deal with it " I couldn't believe she would say this. I never went back to her. I feel women are not taken seriously when they report pain and women's health needs so much more study and compassion.

Never be afraid to speak out whether u are male or female. Don’t live in fear. Get help and get out. And men, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with speaking out if u are suffering. I have been diagnosed with endometriosis BUT there is only ONE test to prove that a person has endometriosis. A doctor would have to preform surgery to be absolutely positive that's what it is. They don't like doing the surgery because it can and probably will make the pain worse.

As someone with stage 4 Endometriosis. It’s a living hell I would not wish on my worst enemy. Getting it diagnosed is such a process & can take women up to 10 years to obtain a diagnosis. It can be found anywhere in the body also, even in the lungs & brain. I’ve got it in my bowel & bladder which is lots of fun.

I had fourth stage endometriosis, it took a cyst the size of a cantaloupe to rupture on my ovary and bleeding internally before they even believed me. I wound up getting a blood transfusion that time. I eventually had to have a full hysterectomy. It's brutal, I couldn't get out of bed some days.

Doctors will often recommend that women with Endometriosis get pregnant earlier than planned if the pain is severe as pregnancy is a much less invasive and more successful treatment than surgery. It’s really only recommended to women once established that plan on having children someday… Majority of doctors back in the day just assumed that all women planned on having children.

Clarification on endometriosis: It is a disease similar to the endometrium found anywhere in the body, outside the uterus. It is not the same as the endometrium. And the only way to officially diagnose it is with a biopsy, meaning surgery is needed. Pregnancy is Never a solution, as the disease can still grow. The gold standard to treat the disease is excision surgery, cutting out the scar tissue and disease, but finding the right surgeon is difficult and many people need multiple surgeries. I've had 4.

The pregnancy treatment!! It's so completely wrong for a doctor to suggest this if you're in the state Victoria was in, as it'll only last 9-18 months and then you'll be back to where you were, but with the enormous additional stress of a child added onto the pile! Not to mention, giving birth with endometriosis can cause severe issues. My baby was stuck because my uterus is all stuck to my bowel etc and therefore twisted. I almost bled to death because they had to just rip her out. The correct treatment for endometriosis is actually the depot injection or the hormonal IUD. Both worked wonders for me. For anyone interested, if you have endometriosis and your doctor suggests pregnancy for symptomatic relief - run in the opposite direction! Don't let them do anything to you. Find someone who is actually very educated on specifically women's health - after years of male doctors dismissing me or botching treatment, I'd never see a male doctor for women's health issues EVER.

I used to have a friend like Victoria in middle school up to my sophomore year of high school. “O” was a great oboe player and I was an intermediate sax player. We were both introverts and weren’t into a lot of the stupid stuff that most of our peers were into. Really, we bonded over anime and music. I was a year ahead of her so I moved to high school, joined the marching band, and made new friends - particularly one in my own sax section. My former middle school was about a 20-minute walk from the high school so I’d stop by after school and hang out when I had band practice or on game days because my folks were quite strict with me and I could never go to a friend’s house unless they were right across the street (and I did have one right across the street). O finally started high school and the rule is that if you’re in any band class you have to be in marching band. She was in orchestra, symphonic, and wind ensemble, and wasn’t into marching band, but took up the xylophone to stay in the class she wanted. Marching band has a mandatory 1-week camp about 1-2 weeks before the actual semester starts, and I introduced her to my new friend group. She really hit it off with my fellow sax player “S”. As soon as she went into another section for a lunch break, he hounded me about her. And truthfully, I was happy for them. In fact, the whole group and our sections were happy for them. However, she turned into the friend and girlfriend from hell about 3 months into their relationship when they started practicing the devil’s tango. She’d text me telling me to back off from him, he wasn’t allowed to sit next to me in the stands anymore during a game even though we were in the same section, he couldn’t even sit by me when we had band rehearsal. And it was so much worse on game days. Because we were a year ahead of her, we’d be allowed to walk in groups or by ourselves to the local restaurants after school so we wouldn’t be too hungry in the stands. I was eventually told to walk either a couple feet ahead or behind the group. If she was sick or couldn’t walk with us when she was given the opportunity, O would call S’s phone until he answered. We actually counted the missed calls (over 100 sometimes). She was even jealous of his sleepovers with his male friends because she thought they’d try to… experiment. (S, as far as I and the entire friend group knew, was straight and had never even voiced anything that would hint otherwise). And at the sleepovers, it would mainly be about playing video games or them designing games they were interested in seeing in stores. S eventually broke off our friendship, but before he did, he hugged me and said, “I’m sorry that you were put in this situation. It shouldn’t be like this. You did nothing wrong.” We weren’t friends ever again. To my knowledge he reconciled with the guys because they’re guys - she was eventually convinced that they weren’t a threat. I saw O years later when I was in college. She was working at Build-a-bear part-time while going to uni. I was there with my mom and sisters for my sister’s 6th birthday. She tried to be so friendly and catch up about the past. Even mentioned that her and S were still together, (maybe engaged?). All I know is, I kept my distance and didn’t care if my mom thought it was rude of me or thought it was my introversion. I didn’t explain anything to her either. I felt straight PTSD and wanted to get the hell out of there so I took my baby sister outside the store while my mom and other sister finished up shopping. Never saw any of them again.

It's not even a gender thing. It is people thinking either innocently but naively that it isn't happening to them, or their partner would never do it to them (9 out of 10 times, yeah they would!) Or from a more selfish standpoint that as long as they're alright, that's all that matters I broke up with someone en route home from a trip once, because on more than one occasion they'd been very rude to the petrol station staff or waiting staff. Soon ad you see that kind of bad behaviour, majority of the time you're getting a glimpse into their true character.

Funnily enough, im having an hysterectomy a week from Monday after 30 YEARS of misery yet ive never gotten a "proper" endometriosis diagnosis. The diagnosis used to get insurance approval for the surgery is "painful and unmanageable periods". Ive been dealing with this 30 years. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that i do indeed have endometriosis. Every woman on my moms side of the family had it too. Yet, i STILL do not have a diagnosis. Lmao i know that had virtually nothing to do with this case. I just relate to the difficulty getting a diagnosis

Just wanted to say, on a mildly related note, that as someone with a fairly rare disorder, I can 100% attest to what a nightmare getting something chronic and not obvious diagnosed is. Took me 10 years. And many doctors will try to gaslight you and try to tell your partner that you're lying or mentally ill, making your partner, your friends, even your family turn away from you when you need them most. It's not an excuse for this woman's unhinged actions, but it happens for real.
