I love how Din is a helper of his friends to reach their destiny. He just wants to be a dad Mando, help others achieve their goals along the way. Mayfeld, Greef, Ahsoka, Cobb, Boba, Bo. They do of course help each other as well. He is not one who seeks the limelight or power.

Agreed. It had Clone Wars/Rebels one-shot vibes. As someone on tumblr said, it felt like something George Lucas had a hand in. There’s also a lot of subtle symbolism in almost every scene. Plus it was just a lot of fun. Like an RPG quest.

I am in agreement with you on Din not really wanting to rule Mandalore. He was honored to have it in his possession, but he knows that Bo is the rightful ruler and is fine to just stand back and help in any way he can. This episode was fun from beginning to end!

I agree that he never really wanted it. He was waiting for a moment she would accept it. I also think she never challenged him for it because she didn't want to hurt him. So this moment was the nexus of his honor and hers. He's a good fighter but he doesn't know how to use the tools the way Bo does, which is why she was willing to challenge Ax here, who also knew how to use all the tools so it was a fair fight. Even then, she could have killed him at least three times and didn't.

Additionally... Before, Bo Katan was actively trying to get the Darksaber to rule. Now? She did not get the Darksaber because she was trying to get the blade. She got it, because she hurried to save a fellow Mandalorian, without any regards for reward etc.

This was my fav episode of the season precisely because it had that stand alone episode feel. It was fun! I was wondering why Bo didn’t have the lightsaber right after the caves. Din clearly lost it in combat and she clearly won it. I can only say she had learned humility and no longer grasped for the throne. Hence she is now for for it. Din could not wield it and knows it’s not for him. He is the paladin to her, his queen

15:20 Din doesn't particularly care for droids, but he's become okay around them because of what they've done for him/Grogu as of late. Din was interested in this particular mission because the problem was BATTLE DROIDS! Do you remember Din's flashback's @sesskasays? His family was killed by Battle Droids. Din hates Battle Droids in the same way Bo-Katan hates Clones. Speaking of Clones, will she be seeking Boba Fett out? He, too, is a Mandalorian foundling. He isn't particularly pleased with what he's accomplished on Tatooine. He's a man of no people and two cultures living in a home that doesn't feel like home ='(

The Mandalorians would not break out Gideon. They would attack and kill him given the chance. The Beskar alloy (not pure) on the ship could have come from anywhere but most likely a dark trooper or planted to incriminate the Mandos. All the Beskar in the galaxy is not exclusively owned by the Mandos as we’ve seen in several episodes previously.

I was like uh oh when this episode started but CSI galaxy was really fun and I loved the conclusion. Dunno sometimes I just enjoy going along for the ride. One thing I thought a lot about in this episode but also in general. One thing Bo has never really seem to have is a shared life, she disliked Satine's choice to take Mandalore in pacificism, her relationship with the Visla clan always seemed to go sideways and generally she was rarely friends with others. I think Ahsoka was one of the few until Djin where she felt like she had a friend and partner. I feel like that is the key to her story which seems to be what this season is focused on. Rebuilding her from the Purge into a better monarch.

I’m sorry but I kinda loved this episoxe. It wasn’t what I would’ve chosen for this late in the season and the beginning had some cringe moments, but it was so much fun and a delight to watch over all. So much nestalgia with all the clone wars references. And the end was awesome! How Bo got the dark saber was definitely a bit round about, but I didn’t have a problem with it. Din never wanted it and couldn’t use it properly. She could. And god damn she deserves it. I’m just gonna say it. Then again I’m very biased. And her giving Din that vote of confidence was everything! He was definitely blushing under that helmet. I’m glad they didn’t have to fight for it. Oh also let’s just acknowkedge No’s complete doneness with being sent on a side quest like Din always is. Though I think he impressed her and us with his diplomatic skills.

Comparisons between Declining the Throne and Arguing in Favor of A Female Acquaintance to Be Ruler Instead: Din Djarin - Publicly makes an eloquent speech that appeals to the values of the warrior culture he is speaking to explaining why he is no longer a viable candidate to rule but why Bo Katan is in fact more deserving. The result is Bo Katan earning the Darksaber without having to fight/kill an ally and she regains the allegiance of her former army. HBO Jon Snow: Parrots the same series of stock phrases (“We NEED ALLIES”, “I DUNT WANT IT” “U R MAI QUEEN”), refuses to publicly elaborate on HBO Daenerys’ qualifications and privately shares information that hurts her cause. Result is HBO Dany stews in her grief and insecurities and ultimately becomes her father’s daughter

I loved this episode! From the quirky enforced side-quest (which was pure Star Wars!) to the battle for leadership at the end. I usually find Jack Black annoying but he was perfect in this! So wonderful to see Christopher Lloyd as the dastardly Separatist sympathiser too! As for the final sequence, it really seems like fate is pushing for Bo-Katan to unite the Mandalorians with the portent of seeing the Mythosaur, the Armorer backing her, her winning the fight and then Djin giving her the Darksaber because of what happened on Mandalore. One thing that strikes me about this show is they're not afraid to go with a simple solution to a plot arc - doubts about Bo-Katan being accepted by the Armorer's clan? Not a problem! What happens with the Darksaber? He gives it to her. The thing is the plot is so well done that we may wonder what the solution will be but when it's resolved so easily, we realise that what we're given is really the only solution!

18:31 This is one of the issues I have with people just looking to be negative toward The Mandalorian series as a whole. We're talking about people that claim to be fans of the franchise who only really know it superficially. The Mandalorian, at it's core, is a Spaghetti Western. And beyond that, it's a Kurosawa inspired one as well. Just like Star Wars proper. He's Toshiro Mifune and Clint Eastwood in space armor. He's not meant to be the "The Chosen One" which I feel a lot of people criticizing the show fail to get. He's the hero yes, but he stands on the side lines of the main tale ready to take his kid and slip away when everyone else is celebrating. He's not meant to be Manda'Lor. Bo-Katan is. And for the one's thinking it's a Yas Queen thing... she's a main franchise character with an on going arc. She's just not the girl who stole the show from the Mandalorian. She IS The Mandalorian. From The Clone Wars, to Rebels to now. She has a journey more so than even Boba Fett. Who isn't Mandalorian btw. Din is more Mandalorian. At least he's from Concordia where as Boba is from a vat on Kamino hahaha Any way... Season 3 hasn't been good by any stretch but leave it to Bryce Dallas Howard to get it back on track.

So....my memory is a bit messed up. I went into the season thinking it was just about him being redeemed....and he was, quickly. Anything I missed? Because they wrapped that up pretty quickly and transitioned toward moving Bo and the other Mandalorians being the focus of future seasons since Pedro is supposed to be leaving after this season> So....I am all for this. We had a nice "side-mission" kind of episode for 75% of this episode. Some fun, light stuff. With only 25% there to push the Bo/Mandalorians story forward. I am really enjoying this season but am losing track of where they are headed with it. Luckily, not being held to the standard broadcast running times they can do whatever they want with the last two episodes. We can get some long episodes to tie everything up for all we know. At the same time, I understand the complaints, but not to the toxic level I have been seeing on social media. After all, if they followed the same exact format as the previous two seasons I feel like those same people complaining about this season being too different would then be complaining that nothing new is happening. The phrase I heard from Michal Okuda when referencing Star Trek The Next Generation's productions keeps coming to mind these days: "Give me something new, something different...but don't CHANGE anything!"

Before anything else, can I just say... 1:00 this actor's voice (Axe Woves character) is awesome. Maybe it's just me, but I love his voice. Idk why. 🤪 Anyway, moving on. 😆 When they showed scenes in the 'previously' part of the dark saber going from Moff to Din, and then the eye thing on Mandalore and Bo Katan killing it, I already knew they were going to go that route of saying she defeated the one who "defeated" Din. I have to admit, I did not like that at first. Because first off, I did not view Din's capture as him being "defeated" by that eye thing. He was just lured into a trap and captured. There was no battle at all. And second, I believe that the dark saber itself, just like Moff Gideon said, has no power in terms of giving it's bearer the 'right' to rule Mandalore. (As others have said, it's not like the Elder Wand.) However, again, as Moff Gideon said, it is the story that has power. Not power in a magical sense either, but the story has power because the people believe it or give value to it. And so, because of that, I'm ultimately fine with them using the story (which, really, should not be believed or given value at all, but if it works, it works 🤷‍♀️) to convince these other Mandalorians that Bo has checked all the boxes they needed her to, and to recognize her as the rightful owner of the blade. In other words, they needed to make it make sense to them, and they accomplished that. Also just want to note that I was one of those who wanted Din to rule Mandalore. I believe there's still value in the idea that those who don't seek power make better leaders. However, I'm fine with Bo Katan leading here (note that I don't know much about her history outside of this show). I agree that Din is more of a supporter rather than a leader, and I think it's a good thing to have him back Bo Katan, and that they've been through enough things together that she listens to him. Now, all we need is to get Boba and co. into the mix. 😉

Din is friends with Bo. He's helped remind her about her heritage in a way she never grasped being a spoiled princess with high expectations. People have made up all this headcanon just fantasizing about him being a ruler, but he's not one. You think he wants to sit on a throne and judge disputes or argue policy? He's already the head of his own house with Grogu and that's about enough. Give him a grown up Omega as a girlfriend and they're good to go. They aren't going to settle on Mandalore, they just want to help get it back and then on to more adventures.

I was very disappointed i wanted it to be Din, That said if it had to be Bo’Katan I think they should have done it different. This seemed Cheep and a cop out of the you cant give it to her rule. That fight with the robot was not an honorable fight between the robot and din it was a cheat ambush so the saber never really would have been the robots for her to win. It would have been better to have a better fight for din to loose and not die and have her save him and take the saber back that way bout the robot fight was a cheep fight. I still wanted it to be Dins and I do it want her to kill him for it but there had to be a more honorable fight then that to do this cheep thing they did

I'm sorry now when I say this I mean no offence but bo Katan had her shot to lead I feel like these episodes are just a rehash of what she went through in rebels. Don't get me wrong the acting and episodes are good but I don't know if vo Katan is a good leader at heart. I think she feels she deserves it based on her sister and her family name. Why not let din try he builds bonds through deeds and the creed. Yes I know he does not want to rule but still

Bo believes she is destined to rule via divine right of kings. Sabine Wren and every member of House Vizula also claim blood rights to own the dark saber.

I think Bo failed because she never rightfully possessed the dark saber. I don't think she does now, either. Not sure technicalities can beat the curse. Bo and Din should have fought- but with training weapons. It's never stated it has to be a fight to the death...

@@stevemcgowen Regardless of conjecture about curses and legends, the Mandalorians were a wild card that Emporor Palpatine wanted out of the picture.

I agree with you so much they have not gone into no detail why he doesn't want the dark saber but the show has set him up for him this is his show and he's a sideline character now shows as bad as boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi it's hard to watch it

@@YodatheHobbit You come on now. How many detours have we been on now, I'm here for that plot thread. I'm getting up before 6am every Wednesday for that plot thread. It's like they had an episodes worth of content related to that, and the rest of the episodes were written to fill the season out. The side quests are literally (not exaggerating) the same quality of writing as sessions of the Star Wars tabel top role playing game I've written.
