Thrawn was created by Timothy Zahn in the Legends Tilogy. Not by Filoni. Filoni read those books and wrote him in in Rebels. And then Zahn took over again and re-wrote Thrawn's origins and course in the new canon books. I found it insulting that no one mentioned Zahn.

My concern is that Dave wrote Thrawn pretty one-dimensionally in Rebels. I get that's how he was arguably in the HTTE Trilogy but I really love the more complex Thrawn that Zahn crafted later on.

1 other big concern is Thrawn and the 7th have been in the Unknown Regions of Space for so long I hope they don't come back over the top diff. Like every Stormtrooper is essentially a Spectral Rement in armor, alay the Rubric Marines

Depending what you consider original. Most older visualizations shows him looking mostly like human, apart glowing red yes and blue skin obviously. In Rebels he has romulan-like forehead ridge and normal eyes just with red pupils.
