That is as likely as that they admitt that the Jedi aided a campaign of intergalactical genocide against the people of the Sith-Empire done by the Republic. It is part of legends, but both things let look the Jedi in a not very good light and may even lead to the conclusion, that the hate against them was if not justified than at least something which someone could understand. That the Knights and the Republic were never the shiny idealistic place the rebels always claimed. Since that would it make harder to tell who the "good" and who the "bad" guys are, it is more something for books, less for movies. Films sadly put to less time in telling a complex story (of course they have limited time).
@georgesikorski98915 жыл бұрын
Bruh, first, it's a show about a Space Cowboy. I doubt Revan will be referenced at all since it looks like it's more concerned about the future of the Mandalorians and their society instead of their history, and even that is a secondary part of a very minuscule subplot that hasn't been referenced since Episode 1. The true primary focus is on a single bounty hunter fighting for himself im the outer rim after the fall of the empire. Favreau and Filoni are huge Legends nerds, so we may get something, but they're too intelligent to throw in random fan service that doesn't supplement the narrative or couldn't be understood by casual fans

*Wookie Mandalorians* …just saying. _The strongest lead._ A bunch of Wookies emigrate to Mandalor and they'll move to the top rungs pretty fast, still with their long lifespans they could also afford to play the slow game. In fact a large Wookie diaspora from Kashyyyk kind of makes sense, they were often raided by slavers and some would want a more defendable home. How many slavers would risk raiding Mandalor? Unknown. How many would risk it a second time?… Zero (cause they're dead, dummy!). Once the Wookies were accepted as Mandalorians, they would have a safe place to raise their young and use their abilities to the fullest. Even a warrior society needs skilled technicians, and if that tradesman is also strong as a forklift… Now imagine a two hundred year old well trained Wookie warrior equipped with Mandalorian gear (the rocket pack may need a afterburner). The only real issue is would their _fur get caught in the armour_ joints or would the undersuit protect against that? Considering they want to resurrect the galactic republic, the most corrupt organization in galactic history, I wouldn't call them smart. Think about it. The Republic voluntarily elected a Sith Lord as their supreme chancellor. And inb4 "they were tricked" so what? The fact that they allowed a single Sith to manipulate them like that kinda proves what a shitty system of government it really is. They even had the Jedi Order backing them up and they still failed. The kind of government that is capable of being taken down from the inside by a single man is an abject failure of a government. And these people want to have that again.

The New Republic did end up reflecting many of the problems within the Rebellion that the Rebels themselves never addressed, while they had the benefit of a common enemy. Most especially the fact that not every member of the Rebel Alliance, or even most members, were fighting to restore the Republic. Many of the larger factions were only fighting for independence and had no intention of joining a theoretical Republic after the civil war. Many others were legitimately criminal elements or simply individuals that had been left with no choice but to fight the Empire; they would have no loyalty after the war, once the Empire was gone, and like Han would have gone back to their old ways. And then there was the simple problem that the Empire was freakin' massive. The Empire for all of its flaws shouldered a massive administrative burden that the New Republic couldn't shoulder without absorbing some of the old elements. And there were simply too many Imperial troops, pilots, and officers for all of them to be held accountable for their actions; the New Republic didn't have a judicial system that could handle it, so many had to just be let go after the cease-fire. And you simply have the fact that by the Battle of Jakku, everyone was tired of the war. There were many on both sides that were ready to seize any sort of end to the fighting, even if it meant compromising on one's goals or ideals. And they specifically wanted to avoid any possibility or similarities with the Empire, to the point of making themselves too weak. The New Republic's flaws were notable and profound, though they do have logical explanations. It is something, I rather approve of in the new canon.
@Jedi_Spartan5 жыл бұрын
@@dungeonguy88 exactly, and on a lower level, the end of Aftermath: Empire's End shows the New Republic fucking over the Bounty Hunters Guild as, from what I've read in The Bounty Hunter Code, in Legends Bounty Hunting was often fully legitimate with the Guild needing to stay in line with Republic and Imperial laws to the point that they still got lots of work from the Republic which had the Jedi Order to deal with the bigger stuff.

The most difficult part about trying to solidify the Mandalorian culture is the fact they pride themselves on individuality. The more complex you make the codes the harder it is to keep that fundamental part of their culture. It's interesting how the Mandalorian rules evolve from pretty direct might makes right and dying the good death stuff, into something that acknowledges pure physical strength isn't everything. You can't shoot all of your problems, even with a gun big enough to blow up planets, as the resol'nare notes, you need to have to software to survive as well as hardware. Not just forcing people into doing what you want, but making something that serves a purpose, that can attract others to the cause. The Super Commando Codex goes even further, with explicit moral rules included for the treatment of civilians. Hell, I'd argue you can see something like this with human societies on Earth. At first the strong can do as they wish, but as technology improves and people spend less time looking for the next meal they become more concerned about the other guy. Might no longer makes right, you have to have a moral reason. Though some might argue nukes are the reason we live in such peaceable times and they are the ultimate example of might makes right...
@Watcher-in-the-Dark5 жыл бұрын
Great comment and underrated. You are absolutely right, it is a great example of normal human society even in the real world and how we progress most often. Although most real life human tribes also respected their elders and let them lead as often as the strongest, one or the other at times too. Mandalorians as a whole people struggle with using wisdom, they have only accepted the strongest to lead and care little of wisdom of elders and even less live to be elders. It is a flawed society but a proud one, and pride is a flaw as much as a boon for a culture.

It's not just Disney. Dave Filoni, and by extension George Lucas, trounced Karen Traviss' work on Mandalorian culture well before Disney bought the franchise. Thanks to Filoni, Jango's status as a Mandalorian is is in question. Also, Jango's faction, the True Mandalorians, that fought Deathwatch in a civil war was overwritten in the Clone Wars show.

I want to see small scales battles with 20-500 mercenaries and militia forces vs 50-5,000 imperials. It can be done. The Imperial warlord realistically has hundreds of thousands millions of imperials under his command. He controls an entire planet and possibly an entire system. One fleet of 3 star destroyers harbors 150,000 personnel. That's not including ground forces below. Plus that fleet may have another 3 arquinten cruisers, 2 raider class corvettes, and 8 gonzati cruisers. Maybe his fleet even has a couple interdictors.

Come to think of it, Sabine dishonored the Mandalorian culture in nearly every single way.
@iamReddington5 жыл бұрын
She's still the most beautiful, loveliest and sexiest Mando ever.
@dungeonguy885 жыл бұрын
In fairness to Sabine, the entirety of Mandalorian culture was going through a very tumultuous time on the heels of the Clone Wars. The clans were fractured, they'd been put through an indecisive civil war, and were quickly being engulfed by the Empire. There many different factions of Mandalorian at the time, all with differing and often conflicting interpretations of the Mandalorian Codes. There are viable interpretations wherein Sabine trying to adhere to one part of the code, one might say she was in breach of another part. This is a common problem with any overly rigid or simple code. But while she did diverge a fair bit from her fellow Mandalorians in some regards, it can also be said that she came back in line with the codes and brought many fellow Mandalorians to them as well. Her only real conflict in the code came about from the interactions between loyalty to her clan, her obligation to a sense of honor, and loyalty to the Empire. Remaining loyal to the Empire, as her clan was, would have easily put her in conflict with the ideal of remaining honorable, particular according to the Supercommando codexes. Though this conflict could be said to be resolved when she convinced her family and many other Mandalorians that the Empire was dishonorable and ultimately intended to destroy Mandalorian culture. Beyond that she was a fine warrior that war familiar with and generally respectful of her culture's traditions, and even played a pivotal part in bringing back important cultural icon for Mandalorian culture with the Darksaber. That in particular gave them a mark of authority for the naming of a new Mandalore. While she was wayward by the beginning of the Rebels show, she was pretty well on-track as a Mandalorian by the end of the show.

I’m so stoked that this is coming out on my birthday! Happy birthday to me! Also, if Jango Fett was a Mandalorian then would Boba naturally be one as well? I know that there were other species that fought as Mandalorian, but would this be an issue for acceptance as Boba was a clone and not a natural born being as everyone else was regardless of species? Or were the Mandalorians so scattered and dissolved that it didn’t matter at that point? Just wondering. One last thing, can anyone confirm or deny that the ship in The Mandalorian is the same one that left Rey on Jakku? I’ve looked at the footage of both and they seem extremely similar to me. However the angle of view is different depending on which source you look at so it’s kind of hard to tell. The shot in The Force Awakens is fairly distant and kind of fuzzy but the overall shape and engine configuration and shape are the same. The trailing rear section seen in the new show could be obscured by the angle that you’re viewing it from in the movie, or it simply could be the original design for the one in The Mandalorian and I just caught an upcoming inconsistency. What are your thoughts Alan? (sp?)
@spokeydokey52374 жыл бұрын
Jango Fett “was” a Mandolorain, specifically Death Watch, but betrayed them by becoming a bounty hunter before Boba was born. Prior to his death, he was training Boba like a Mandolorian and afterwards Boba continued his training on his own. However by the end of the Clone Wars, Death Watch and the Mandolorians were so fractured that it really did not matter. Basically, Boba Fett had all of the training of a Mandolorian but was never officially part of any faction and, because of this, probably did not bother with the honor code.

Maul didn't become the Mandalore because of his force abilities. The only part of the fight where he used them was, when Vizla already lost and layed on the ground. This makes it even cooler that maul won, because he was a better fighter than Vizla, even without his force powers and gadgets on his armor.
