When adding film grain you don’t have to mask for the highlights and midtones. In resolve studio under the advanced tab in the grain section, you can dictate how much grain goes in the shadows, mids and highs…

Yeah I know, that's an old video. I use the advanced tab now. Cheers for watching

Hey man, I appreciate the free footage, I've done my own grade using Dehancer with the footage provided. I've made sure to put you in the description as the original owner. I'm fairly new to grading in general, so some thoughts on it - from yourself - would be great, with some tips on what to improve on.

Cheers man. If you wanna send an email with your footage or a Google drive link. I'd be happy to have a look. drewahr@gmail.com

Is it better to shoot in black and white (for example with Sony A6400) right away, or is it the same if I shoot in color, and then make it black and white in Resolve?
@GreenGoatProductions Жыл бұрын
With digital it won't really change if you shoot colour then make it black and white. Unlike in film which has an increased Lattitude with black and white . I'm pretty sure digital is all the same. The only thing would be, if you shoot Bnw, youll get to see what it looks when shooting.

Very good vid! I didn't realise you could do so much with black and white grading. I guess it all comes down to the contrast and the way you shape light. Now just make a video about recreating the "film look" and we are set!

Yes this is good but how the hell can i emulate classic black and white film stocks such as Tri X or Eastman Double X???
@GreenGoatProductions11 ай бұрын
That's a lot more complex and would involve using film emulation luts that use a specific contrast curve. You'll never be able to match it completely but you can get pretty close. I'll look into it
@jackbarron888011 ай бұрын
Thank you. That would be much appreciated. Even just trying to mimic the RGB values of Tri X would be useful for me as I have no idea where to start. I'm shocked that there is literally zero tutorials on this on youtube. Just Lighthouse recreations. Thanks for looking into this though@@GreenGoatProductions
