One theme in this series is that "You can't fight fate". Interestingly, this applies for both sides rather than only for the heroes. No matter how many times Kanzaki resets the timeline, he ultimately cannot save Yui.

@@sfdv1147 Oh, that's the "ironic deaths". When you think about it, all Rider deaths in the series are ironic. Even a short term Rider like Goro/Zolda has one: He faked his death for his master as Zolda to trick Shinji. When he actually became Zolda he died for real.

Part of that fate for Kanzaki was also that no matter WHAT he attempts in one form or another Kido WILL get involved and WILL be the ultimate monkey wrench that screws it all up for him Even in the Zi-O special it was through his actions that let him keep his cards long enough, alongside Knight’s that led to the creation of the Ride Watches that would allow Sougo and Geiz to finish off the seemingly final fragment of Kanzaki that wielded the Odin Deck in the finale

The other timelines are just one of the few attempts made by Kanzaki to save his sister. 13 riders special was his first and second attempt. Episode Final movie is his third, while the main series is his final attempt. Everytime he fails, he resets the timeline with time vent.

@@brotherhood7596 but it actually makes sense though All previous Odin’s, minus the AR Decade one, where mind controlled puppets of Kenzaki, they were one with the deck so they could continually and easily abused his none Vent Card powers to beat everyone But with Kenzaki, a completely non-combatant for the ENTIRE series up to this point, he has zero fighting experience or skills so it makes sense he tried to AGAIN stack the deck by having all 3 Survive Cards Only for Kido’s final actions of releasing his and Knight’s Advent cards taking away the Wing Survive Cards So Kenzaki, again a totally non-combatant, went for the next best thing and jumped right to using his Final Vent to just raw overpower his foes Unfortunately with the powers of both Zi-O and Geiz boosted by the Ryuki and Knight Ride Watches AND both Survive Mode Watches as well they easily turned the tide and beat him

Back then, I was just 5 or 6. I don't really understand what the story about, but cried when all the Riders died one by one. Kamen Rider Ryuki in my opinion is the most epic KR. All the characters was not just black and white. They have their own color and gray stain as well. Their backstory. Their idealism. Their purpose. How they all died anything they do, and how everything ends for them however they struggle. It's just... sad.

Ryuki is the mc and series name, but in the end knight is the one who survive. How many series u know that let the main character die with normal monster, not even the strongest one. Purely the best, really hope they will remake this with new ending to become more adult tv show that gore just like garo or new amazon series.

Nobody survives, pal, it's all a trap for Odin to win, the main rider is Ryuki because he's the external Rider that Odin didn't choose, Ryuki's interaction with Yui is what leads to Yui refusing to accept the gift of life from Shiro. Odin was the main rider, he's an immortal rider, what Knight defeated was a temporary vessel of Odin.

When kitaokas time finally came and he died in his home while Gorou took his place as Zolda and confronted Ouja. That shit made me cry. It was so bitter sweet. Then Asakura just runs outside only to get shot by the police and die too.

@@nirovetto6624 Gorou was loyal to the end. Plus he probabky wouldn't know what to do without Kitaoka. Asakura was psychotic to the end. Without Kitaoka to fight. There was no reason to live according to how he lived his life. They seemed to be both dependent on Kitaoka.

Goro's death actually was ironic. At first he pretended to die as Zolda to trick Shinji. When he actually became Zolda he died for real.

In my opinion, every ending IS canon. What matters is our own perspective, either it's movie version OR the original series. Personally, I pick Rider Time : Kamen Rider Ryuki ending. Why ? Think about it, all of those endings basically a time loop, an endless loop. How ? Time Vent, but in one of those alternate endings, there's 1 particular different that's completely out of time and realm itself. Zi-O. Zi-O wasn't part of Ryuki story or ANY heisei rider story. Remember, Zi-O wasn't supposed to be exist in the first place.

@@Anomaleph Yes, and remember he wasn't supposed to be exist in the first place. Intentionally, Build was planned to be the last Heisei series, that's why the movie was called "Heisei generations FINAL", because it's the last one, BUT things got out of plan, the emperor of Japan decided to dethrone next year so the era of Heisei still going on, and Toei has to make a series for that year, and comes along Zi-O. How to make it canon ? Enter Build's movie "Be The One", in the after credit scene, Sento brought to another world by Pandora's Box. A world of rider war, but this time there's archenemies of every rider. Things go out of what it's supposed to be, and of course it affects timeline. The King of Heisei Riders appears and change everything. Kuuga doesn't exist, Agito released, Ryuki released, Faiz released, Blade released, Hibiki, Kabuto, and so on. What I mean by released, it's that their story actually ended. For example in Blade's ending, Kazuma sealed his powers and let Hajime roams freely, but at the cost of their friendship, in Zi-O their powers taken over and their curse is destroyed, thus ending their story, just like im Ryuki's Rider Time. Decade on the other hand is still on a journey. How ? In Zi-O movie, "Over Quartzer", Zi-O Oma form summons all heisei riders in their final form and notice that Decade, is using the old belt he has, BUT in the Zi-O series he is using the new belt, so how did that makes sense ? Simple, movie happens before Schwartz takes decade's powers. THAT shouldn't happened, but in series as we know it, he takes decade's powers and destroys timeline, Zi-O defeats him, returns timeline BUT notice that timeline DOES NOT affect decade at all. Since he is out of any world's logic. Remember he IS decade. No one can replace him. His powers is his existence. So, when Zi-O returns timeline, that doesn't affects decade and he continues his journey. Unfortunately, we won't see this happens, since the actor ended his contract with Toei. Too long, isn't it ? At least it makes sense.

problem is, he may have limit on how far his Time Vent could go back in time. His limit might be the time when the mirror Yui offer the deal thus prohibit him from going further back before real Yui death. he might already try to go back in time to help yui but knowing the limitation he have he try to find solution for yui within his limitation. that solution after countless trial and error would be this rider war and yet he still fail.

Thing is, we don't really know how many times he's hit the Reset Button. Any "what if" scenario might as well have already happened in canon, but ultimately failed.

I miss the day when rider transformation is simpler. Just put the deck/cellphone into the belt and done. Nowadays riders have to insert tons of coins/cards/whatever into increasingly larger and bulkier belt. Looks more cumbersome than cool for me

Ryuki and Blade are two of the better Kamen Rider series I've watched. Both have very deep themes and well developed characters. In Ryuki's case, each had their own motivations and not the common plot of saving the world.

@@AangDknight Yeah, he did. Him liking Ryuki leads to his current writing style and title as Urobutcher. Madoka Magica, Fate/Zero, Kamen Rider Gaim, anyone who have watched those series should easily draw a connection between Urobutchi and Ryuki as his inspiration. A couple series that he wrote yet didn't follow this formula are the OG Psycho Pass and first three episodes of Aldnoah/Zero.

I just finished the series yesterday. But something really makes me wonder, when Yui said that they should have better to draw beautiful things instead of monster, if Shiro had really accept the fact that he cant give a life force to Yui, then why he still reset the timeline where's Shinji still alive and everything started as beginning?

I think it's to make amends. If you look at the final photo in the last scene, the siblings are in their younger years compared to the older photo where the photo shows the siblings in their teens. This suggests that Shiro accepted Yui's death and the mirror world event never took place, which explains the last photo of them taken is when Yui was still a kid.

Ryuki is one of the best rider series but simply has the worst protagonist. I mean, this show should’ve been called “Kamen Rider Knight” looking at how the main timeline ended and how Shinji had to be Knight in 13 riders.
