It's become tradition by now. People were persecuted, tortured and killed by the Roman church for centuries, for practicing the worship of nature and the pantheon of nature Gods and Goddesses of their ancestors. In order to keep their spirituality alive, they had to practice it only at night, in secret, in hooded cloaks so their identity would not be revealed if their services were raided. Before the Romans, the worship of nature spirits, etc., was done any time of day, just as natural as the wind or clouds blowing across the sky. The darkness was only made necessary by the Christian persecution. Even today, you could lose your job, your neighbors could stop speaking to you, if it was known that you practice Pagan ways. The dark is protection against persecution.

I became pagan after struggling for years and years with the concept and teachings of christianity. Hating my life. Hating how upon waking, I felt that if i died that day, I'd go to hell even though I tried my best to be the best christian. What a horrible way to live. Then around my 30's, I had a literal awakening. Now 8 years later, my life is full of peace. I see the world in a much different way now than before and I find beauty in the day to day. Becoming pagan was thee best decision I ever made. I am no longer angry and am just more peaceful. This video did a great job but I think it still portrays a darkness, even though in my opinion there is no darkness in paganism. Only balance in opposition. Blessed be to all my fellow witches and wizards. May we spread this peace beyond even more.

Hell didn't even exist until the Roman empire made it up. Catholics, who were trying to convert the pagans at the time to Catholicism used the antlered god in the pagan religion called Kernunnos as a devil. So they warped it. I don't believe in hell. I will never go back to christianity. I do believe in Jesus but only that he existed and was a wise teacher. He was full of love and peace. . But the concept of someone just so happened to be readily available to sacrifice for sins just seems to convenient. That is why many people see Jesus as pagan because he is nothing like god. I could go on and on. As long as you wish and practice peace and love to your fellow man, practice whatever religion you want. I'll keep practicing my beliefs. To those complaining about the beginning being evil... I think you need to understand what evil is, preferably not from experience, as I do not wish that on anyone. To be clear, 'scary' is not 'evil' and 'evil' is not necessarily 'scary'. Darkness is not evil. It is a different spiritual and energetic current, including even the aesthetic. Whispering in a 'scary way' in the dark tunes yourself into currents of energy you won't find spinning in a circle in sunlight. Both are valuable, both are different forms of expression that yield different connections. There is great power in the Whispers. Just as with Weaving. These are practices you have never heard of, likely, because they have not been written. Spend time in ritual and you will find forms of magick yet unrevealed.

If it helps, I saw the initial horror aspects within the film to be a way in which to show people their fears, for the sake of then dispelling them. As I saw it, it was a way of saying, "See? There isn't anything to be so scared of, after all!" But people had to be shown what they are afraid of first, in order to then be shown that those very fears are not necessary. As a practicing Pagan myself, this aspect of the film meant a great deal to me!

Christmas was a replacement for european countries to celebrate, if i remember correctly it was made by the emperor of rome after the conversion to christianity, so the people would be joyful as when they were pagans. What a beautiful video , the way this was filmed is very nice. The contrast of light and shadow is stunning in this presentation. As an occultist myself it's good to see these arts portrayed so beautifully , and yes nature plays a major part in our lives because Gaia is the great mother and as we are all her children living in tune with her instead of being destructive is best. If we continue with the oil spills and pollution we will pay sooner than later and we will have no choice but to watch it all revert back to a state of balance and natural order that will take place after our destruction. Yes occult practice is personal , but the next generation should understand the logic of the classical learning systems and why they were in place back then , to sharpen they're common sense . I will always be here for them. The quadrivium and the trivium was the basis back then on a well rounded start to education. After that you knew how to debate with logic . You had a foundation of how alchemy worked , which was only physics and chemistry , you understood the language of the universe as you were skilled in algebra and geometry. All these folks are reconstructionist "Druids" seemingly applying syncretism so not Druidry if they are not a hierarchical leadership class of the ancient Celts or worship the pantheons of the Celts. Why I do you find it very informative, it also seems that the director for reporter of this clip seems to be a bit confused about what occultism is. Occultism does not automatically or exclusively mean paganism. Every single religion has a sort of occult movement within it. You have even Christians, Muslims and Jews who indulge in certain occult practices. What the occult really is basically people who seek out secret/hidden of knowledge that are within certain religious or spiritual practices that are sometimes unobtainable by the mainstream framework of organized religion they do it from a harmonistic view of maybe multiple religious views or sometimes it's more seclusion away from the normality of what is mainstream to religion and as well sometimes from a more darker sometimes more insidious manner. Oftentimes for individualistic gains and secretive knowledge in many ways. It is not something that's essentially associated with polytheistic or reconstructive Pagan movements. I have witnessed the magick in the Divine Liturgy when I celebrate it. In fact, I consider it to be High Magick. This is why I follow both paths as a Christo-Pagan. The govt tricked generations of women into believing its somehow inferior to stay at home with children, that they're less of a person by not going to work as soon as possible after birth! @duckynado the video is titled "Pagan" not wicca. This is a video about different forms of paganism not about wicca. You should listen to the very last statement before the end of the video very carefully. And btw, paganism's foundation is based on the ancient statement "Do what you will, as long it harms none"... Wicca fits very much into this, so stop ragging on the Wiccan people. I, myself, am not Wiccan but a pagan polytheist yet have Wiccan friends and we get along quite well and have learned a lot from each other's faiths.

I'm a Nihilist. I believe that life, death, and reality as a whole is all insignificant. But I believe we should give things meaning according to our own opinions. Because what means something to someone else may not have meaning to me. So we give things reason or meaning because it's in our minds alone. I don't believe in a god, and I'm skeptical of life after death. But I still believe that energy, (magick) is everywhere. In us, in animals, hell, magick can be in a pebble if you focus on it enough. My point being, although there may be nothing in the future, there is still wisdom, magick, and knowledge in the present. So we keep that inside us and hold onto it for as long as we can. I'm 15 years old and I feel as though I'm an adult based on the hardships I've been through, and I think this may be my meaning. It's beautiful, in it's own way.

Occult simply means “hidden” - you could say psychotherapy deals with the occult in a person. Occult is not inherently evil - it is just hidden knowledge that so often leads to enlightenment. Shadow work is one of the most authentic paths to enlightenment but I wouldn’t recommend it for everyone. The yin-yang relationship/duality of life is meant to be in balance. All the power to anyone who finds happiness in comfort in their own way, but I have to say: these are not Druids. Druids have been a popular subject of fiction and speculation for hundreds of years, so long and repetitive that many people today believe they represent facts. In reality, little to nothing is known about Druids other than that it was a profession, something like a blend of a doctor, philosopher, and priest, as far as scholars know. The idea of a Druid being associated with nature magic is almost completely groundless. The Celts who established the Druidic profession were not literate (and if they were, they chose not to record the details of their occupation so as to maintain its integrity from laypeople and outsiders). What little written account we have of them came from Julius Caesar who, keep in mind, was approaching the place from the perspective of a conqueror. He depicted the Druids as a tree-loving, human-sacrificing people, and that's about all. A scholarly book was published concerning Druids (I think during the 19th century? I'm bad with dates, sorry) that provided a wealth of information regarding their religious practices and daily life. Unfortunately, the vast majority of it was confabulated but by the time other scholars realized the author had no sources for his information, it was too late. The book had run its circles through universities and the public fancy. Everything about Druids in pop culture today is largely the fault of that book. The truth is we know next to NOTHING about what their lives were actually like, and obviously "nature magic" isn't going to leave an archeological record. After Caesar conquered Gaul, he either wiped out or assimilated the Druids into the Roman empire. The Druidic practice died out completely; so when you see self-help books titled "Druidic Nature Magic" written by authors who claim to be "Celtic witch-druids", please know there was no such thing. Anyone who claims to be a modern Druid simply has not done the research required to realize we don't know enough about them to do so.
