I’m neurodivergent. So are many in the fandom. Almost none of us burst into a strangers room to take pictures of them. Sometimes I struggle with social actions, but I never struggle with consensually entering people’s rooms/asking for a picture, when appropriate. Many don’t struggle with that, because it’s a fucking no-brainer.

There are different types of neurodivergencies that could absolutely influence someone to do shit like this if they A. were never corrected/taught on how to act B. do not care how their actions affect others because they can't empathize with them and/or C. can't visualize or don't care about the consequences of their actions. It's the whole reason people study the psychology of sociopaths/psychopaths. He may have a neurodivergent condition that many other people have (and which he may blame his actions on) when it's actually a different condition that influences his actions.

On the flip side, though, the Internet helps us to notice, flag, and warn each other about "broken stairs" within our communities, so that they just aren't permitted to freely wreak havoc. Based on this video, it sounds like Lumin has rejected and/or not gotten vital social training and feedback in his life that could've prevented him from embarrassing himself and alienating people, and he sadly seems determined to double down.

Thank you for covering this. He is a local in my area and I’ve met him at a furmeet. He always talked about balloons in a sexual manner and just wouldn’t stop talking about sex in general and other things about balloons. It was honestly really weird and made everyone at the meet uncomfy. We had no idea he was 17 at the time which just made me more uncomfy when I found out. I’m glad he’s banned from most meets in my area. I was also there for his little meltdown about New Years Furry Ball about something he was never involved with and only brought it back up to start drama because he was banned for unrelated reasons. Had to personally deal with the fellow as a moderator for one of the larger local servers he joined. They joined our discord community about a year ago and initially they were alright, quiet mostly, but their questionable messages and inconsiderate behavior during meetups made many members uncomfortable, some downright leaving because of it. It was only until we dropped him from the server, after multiple attempts to tell him to curb his behavior and giving him advice to not make any more waves (he complained quite a bit about his drama) falling on deaf ears, that droves of people began to return to the server and our meetups. In the end, his lack of insight and personal responsibility is what's driving him out of the community, and I'm not sure anymore if his excuse for being neurodivergent holds anymore. Honestly, I think the guy just has to take a break from the community and perhaps the internet as a whole. Also, don't think I didn't notice the Mili/Library of Ruina reference in description. Amazing taste.

Where Barq does require minors show their age publicly, anyone over the age of 18 can't see them in search functions! That is how they protect minors on the app. For example a minor can see my profile if they live near me, but I can not see them unless they like my profile (which I think they need to remove people underage liking anyone over 18) I just think over all minors and 18+ people shouldn't be able to interact on the app at all.

I have experience with people on the spectrum who really struggle socially. I’ve also attended many social skills group classes for autistic kids, and can say that this Lumin dude is struggling. No, their actions are not to be tolerated because of a diagnosis. No one should have to be in that uncomfortable situation. I have. It’s scary. It’s exhausting. It’s difficult to understand. But it’s real. I’ve been punched by people close to me because of their meltdowns. I’ve been screamed at, insulted, told to die. They don’t mean any of it, but it happened and affected me greatly. However, that does not mean the people who did it to me will ever understand the gravity and wrongfulness of their actions, that’s what the diagnosis is. It affects the way people think. Lumin needs to sit down with a professional who can help explain why what they did was unacceptable to others. Obviously me saying it means nothing, but I do think we need to better understand neurodivergent reactions like Lumin’s. No we don’t have to tolerate or forgive. I don’t tolerate being punched or yelled at. The best solution I use in my life is separation and deescalation. Don’t argue with them, just call out their actions to warn the public, then step away. Never assume the person you’re arguing with has the same capability to reason as you do. Just advice from someone recognized Lumin’s behavior like dejavu

Dang. I was at ANE. I like to go around at cons and take pictures. Lumin showed up in a few of the photos I took at some of the events, but I wanted to catch them at some point and get a few photos of just them because it was an adorable fursuit. Then a couple of weeks later I see this video. ... ... God dammit. I've seen this form of drama play out. Where person A does something to wrong person B. Person B responds to being wronged. Person A takes this as a blow to their ego, acts like they're the victim, and lashes back at Person A. When in reality what's happening is that they wronged person A, and now they won't leave person A the hell alone. I can sort of understand the neurodivergent aspect. I'm neurodivergent myself. Some people don't have an innate sense of what's appropriate. They have to learn it the hard way. But I'm overly cautious to the point of having social anxiety. I absolutely hate interacting with people in an adversarial way, and I've managed to avoid any form of personal conflict for years. I'd be so embarrassed to find out that I made someone uncomfortable that sometimes I'm scared to interact with people. Cons to me are exposure therapy to help me get over this and be more open. I don't want there to be this consensus that being neurodivergent automatically makes people do inappropriate stuff.

Ain't surprised he almost did something like that, he has no idea how to behave in public, no understanding of social norms and manners, and due to his refusal to learn from his past wrongdoings and lack of self reflection, he still retains the mental capacity of a child even being like 20 years old at this point. Lumin claimed that he was "receiving therapy for years" but his therapist is either terrible at their job, or he's flat out lying, I'm convinced is the latter as all sorts of outrageous crazy stories about Lumin and his misadventures suggest that such resources were never clearly offered to him and that his parents most likely were incompetent, backwards-thinking and refused to get him help due to negligence, coddling and possible delusional views on mental health. Unfortunately any complaints to Furpoc fell on deaf ears as the admins would remove any comments of people expressing concerns about Lumin's poor self-control and psychological issues.
