The heads are not hand painted! They are entirely fully 3D printed in colour. This is the second video in which Adam has made this mistake and the second time I've called for its correction. To claim they were all individually hand painted is misinformation.

To clarify, the color of the faces was fully printed - no paint - according to multiple making-of sources. Though certainly the work of digital painters.

Interviews with director of character fabrication Georgina Hayns from Befores & Afters and Frame-io: GH: The faces were printed in color... It comes back with a base color, is it then hand painted again? GH: No, it’s printed with the entire color palette. We lay it all out and do it in a flat, and then that’s wrapped around. So you do texture paint the 3D model, which gets 3D printed? GH: Exactly. And the whole paint job is worked out. And what we did do for Pinocchio, which was really important, is that we got as close as we could and as happy with the faces, and then matched the paint job of the body to the faces. Because there was more ability for us to tweak our practical paint job than to do infinite tweaking with the facial technology. GH: The back of his body was metal printed and the front was 3D-printed plastic that was then painted. But his head was color-printed plastic, and the reason we had to do that is because of the wood grain and the expressions we needed him to make. We used the most high-end color printer we could so that the color is essentially animating and moving with the face...

I came here to say just that! I can't believe Adam has made the same mistake across two videos now, and hasn't been corrected. To claim they're all individually hand painted is false, and attributes a fictionally vast amount of work that simply wasn't done. They were entirely 3D printed in colour!
@Thomas_Esson9 күн бұрын
@@jamesharvey805 While it indeed would have been nice if Tested had noticed the earlier correction, to be fair to Adam, in both cases the primary responsibility came down to the expert in the room neglecting to correct his understandable assumption. The curator and auction rep should have been well aware of the objects' clearly-documented construction, and it's odd that they were not.

Well, she is suposed to be a highly trained profesional trying suposed know, maybe restore and preserve, and sell in auction very special and valuable pieces. IMO a very basic thing that she should know is how to properly name/pronounce what she is auctioning. If not....for me it brings down serioussness/study of the item. Imagine trying to buy a VERY expensive Iphone from some highly ranked in an Apple shop who it's calling it an Eptone: would yo trust that person to know what they are selling to you? I would not. We are not talking in a setting between friends or family, but a very technical/formal one.

Depends how complicated the scene is; they can go faster if there are fewer moving elements in frame, but a lot of shots are crowded with characters, objects and set pieces all in motion simultaneously. But keep in mind that's per unit; they shot with dozens of units.
