You are all still overvaluing Castillo and living in his past. He is on the wrong side of 30, very well-paid, had a down year and plays in a park that helps him. He is very mid anywhere else. No one wants to pay 24M for a 4th starter. The only trades that makes sense for him with sox would be like Kutter Crawford ( a cheap, controllable replacement) and Yoshida. You save 5-6M a year and you get a guy that would be one of your better hitters if you can find a place for him to play. If you want Casas, it would have to be something like Casas, Kutter and maybe Abreu for either Kirby or Gilbert. You may think that is unfair but they only have a few years of control left and are getting more expensive each year now. They will look to deal at least one of them next offseason or at trade deadline in 2026. There are some hard decisions there. I don't expect them to do much of anything because honestly, I don't think they have much of a real plan and are an incompetent FO and ownership. You have my sympathy though, because as a Red Sox fan we go from pure incompetence (trading Mookie, signing Yoshida/Panda/Hanley/Story - not signing Teoscar for multiple last year) to correcting course and putting things together and sort of having an actual plan.
