I saw Mars Volta in 2008. This was the very beginning of smart phones. An audience member in the pit was recording a song. I guess Cedric didn't like the idea of being filmed at the time. Cedric was making gestures at the guy recording. A few minutes later, Cedric went backstage, came back out with a trash can, and literally threw the trash can at the person filming the show. It was freaking nuts.

I agree that they are giving the fans what they want, but I'm kinda disappointed that they are. The new album is criminally underappreciated. I think the fans might warm up to it if they heard it live. "No Case Gain," "Que Dios Te Maldiga Mi Corazon," and "The Requisition" would be amazing to hear live. I love the fact that they went in a different direction in spite of fans' complaints, but it feels like they are afraid to commit to that on stage.
