One of the best shows I’ve seen in my life🖤 I got stranded in Boston all night and I don’t regret it at all🤘
@dbranch232 жыл бұрын
I can’t even lie, I teared up a bit during the end of Televators. Old Cedric might be my favorite version, like Wolverine in Logan, LOL. Was happy he let us go ape & move around for Cygnus, that shit would get you called out on the Frances tour! I didn’t necessarily get stranded, but I was with some folks who for sure had to stay up all night waiting on early Amtraks. I was in some bar around the corner at last call & it was kinda a rude awakening. Definitely felt jarring & I sorta hung around in the street, people-watching for a good while. Also, closing bars at 2am feels quaint and fucking stupid in 2022. Imagine being the mayor of a great American city like Boston after the last several Plague Years and still trying to uphold some semblance of puritanical nonsense at the expense of your economy. Not that Boston is the only such case/place, but running off people who came to spend disposable income in your city, and pushing them out onto the street, dosed on hallucinogens just doesn’t seem like the thing 😅

Man, TMV is owning their age. I personally think the ATDI reunion stuff was really boring and paint-by-the-numbers. Antemasque was kind of the same way. I think those reunions/ projects were marred by this really tangible sense of futilely attempting to recapture a former glory, but with this configuration both Omar and Cedric just give off this really special vibe of being old guards and reasserting their influence to a younger crowd. They've stopped trying to play the young person's game of being flashy and showman-like and instead are refocusing their lens on professionally executing these amazing songs with some grace and class. It fucking shows and they look and sound really good by going that route, in my opinion, anyway. It sounds like they are naturally progressing and it rules.

sometimes people dont fully get that people age and just dislike it when they dont sound like they did in 2005. It's like they disregard people's humanity, as if the mars volta or any band is just a product to them, as if its not people that thankfully are still alive and able to perform.

Hay did you have footage of TMV performing "The Widow"? If so would you please consider uploading it🙏🤟
Holy shit. I saw them in 2004 opening for APC. At the time, I thought they sucked, but it may have been because I was excited to see APC, so I can't say if the performance was good or not because I wasn't familiar with their music when I saw them, but I listened to Deloused a couple years later and was instantly hooked on TMV. One thing I do remember when I saw them live is that they were REALLY high energy, moving around a lot and such. I've seen bootleg videos of shows they played since listening to their stuff and figured I may have caught an off-show because I saw quite a few videos where they were pretty bad, either a bad mix, or Cedric was off key, or both, but the key take away from this video is that they are way better now, but they are way lower energy. Maybe the constant moving around caused the music to suffer in the past? I can relate to that if that is the case. I find it really hard to play well AND move around. It's one or the other, lol . Either way, now I kinda wish I didn't vow to not attend the shows of Ticketmaster bands...NIN last month was my last Ticketmaster/Livenation affiliated show and I only went to that because I had bought the tickets before making the decision. I hope they extend the tour and play some smaller venues that aren't affiliated with Ticketbastard and come to OR. I would go in a heartbeat after seeing this vid.

Yeah, don’t feel guilty about it if you miss it. I saw them twice this tour in NYC, and they still have their bad habit of bombing. Thursday was great actually, but Friday, it was like they were on drugs (Marcel was cacophonous and Omar seemed afraid to play guitar like he was a battered wife lmao). Cedric’s voice wasn’t all there either and he mistimed lyrics, he slammed his mic stand down in anger a few times, but he at least did his best to recover and hit the last notes, that was great. Overall I felt more like I attended to pay my respects for what they did in the past, but I would’ve been embarrassed to bring a complete newbie to see them that night lol.
