Good job. There's nothing easy about Jon's Theodore drumming on this song. He wasn't just a great technician but a true artist. Theodore plays drum rolls on this record that until this day I still haven't heard on other record.

Hey great cover! Also wanted to tell you that I think you did a great job with the sound of the stack. Obviously no one will ever recreate the stack Jon was using on the first 3 TMV albums but you did a great job of actually accomplishing a similar sound. Very well done.

Just asking.. arent you playing bad the tom part that starts at 2:34 ? It sound displaced to me respect to the original track, let me know if im right or if im imagining it hahahaha Great sound!!
@compulsivepercussion Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! You're not imagining things, I flubbed the triplet section that you mentioned. The triplets get displaced from the original track, but I kept it in time so decided to keep this take! Good catch!

Hey man, awesome cover. Do you have anywhere you can point me to on how you count this song? Time signatures for TMV is always such a challenge.
@compulsivepercussion3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! I don't have anywhere in particular to point you, but I count the song in 6/4. It's helpful if you focus on the guitar riff more than the drums, as the drums are chopping the time up in such a way that it makes it harder to count. But the guitar riff repeats in an intuitive way and I count 6 quarter-notes per measure. The whole song stays in this time signature too. Hope that's helpful!
@aarontrector3 жыл бұрын
@@compulsivepercussion appreciate it! Super helpful. I played drums from 1998-2005 and about to buy a kit again. Will be play through this and more of the songs you’ve already posted. Stoked to have found your channel! Hope you keep it going!

whats the symbol you play at 0:27 called?

Thanks for watching and for the question! That cymbal is actually a stack of two cymbals. The one on the top is a broken 18 inch medium thin crash upside-down, and the one on the bottom is a 16 inch china high. Both the cymbals are Zildjian A series cymbals!

Love the cover! What is the stack you're using?
@compulsivepercussion3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! The stack is an 18 inch Zildjian A medium thin crash with a small crack in it upside down on top of a 16 inch Zildjian A china high. I cranked the wing-nut on it to give the whole thing a very choked off sound, but there was still a lot of resonance to it.
