This is certainly one of their more chilled songs. I requested a song from their first album, which is pretty much organised chaos all the way through, with the exception of one song. It also features Flea on bass for the whole album.

Got to meet these guys at an undercover show about 11ish years ago. They were super nice and hung out with like 10 of us for roughly 45 minutes after the show

This was a very calm Mars Volta song. They can rock out. Very much so. Listened to their debut album a lot 20 years ago and some At the Drive-In as well which has a more punk feel to it.

This song serves as a transition between two much higher energy songs. Explore The Mars Volta further, each album is truly a sonic evolution from the previous album.

Been listening to these guys since they were "at the drive-in" one of my favorite bands. Should check out more from them. Inertiatic esp, goliath, the drunk ship of lanterns, pretty much all there stuff is quite good and different from everyone else.

Wow now that's a voice. The guitar is subtly great, not flashy but fantastic. The rest of the band is rock solid, the keyboard stands out in a very old school way. I really like this, it scratched my blues itch. Great Reaction! (Personally I would have said 7.8, but that's just my personal opinion. It's not great no, but I thought it was really really good)

You would enjoy the rest of the catalogue. Sadly the keys player passed away a few years back, he was a monster to watch live

I was obsessed with the Mars Volta when they were putting out albums. I'd kind of describe them as a punk/metal band with jazz players. They can be chaotic, but they know how to play. Very abstract and different, which is why I got into them. I grew tired of the music I was being exposed to at the time and was looking for anything different. I'd find I'd listen to them nonstop for months, then not listen to them again until their next album came. This song was a single and the Mars Volta didn't have much to choose from to release as a radio/MTV single.

I heard this song years ago. I love it. I'm one of the few people who hypes this song. Lol The vocals are incredible. Amazing range. He's an oddity. He gives me the Steve Perry feels. Pretty emotional. I miss that from today's music. 🥰😍🤩🎸🎵🎶🎼

Such an exciting band when they were still active. This is very radio friendly. They have 30 minute prog rock epics in the catalogue as well. Lots of crazy odd time stuff. My favourite record was amputechture, I really feel like that was their peak but they never did anything boring. Miss that band a lot and RIP to the keys player

I think a good entry from them to see their « real » style would be the song called « Ilyena », it’s a pretty catchy and not too long one but it still has their signature groove and chaos stuff

Definitely one of their calmer songs. I’m sure they have plenty more upbeat songs up your alley.

This was an interesting project as the entire album is broken up into segments and then smaller sub segments where one track will be 14 min, next is 45 seconds followed by 2:30 and 5:30 songs. Should you listen to it with no breaks between songs, you'd have no idea where one track ends and the next begins. I really enjoyed this album.

It's an ok song. I hate that the singles are the most suggested TMV songs. As a devotee, I would recommend you check out Noctourniquet, their last release. Then I would suggest Bedlam in Goliath. Deloused and Frances broke barriers, but TBIG and Nocto really showed what kind of band they are. EDIT: They have pieces that will put you on the floor. Hetfield once called them, "a very powerful band." Of course, as Zach De La Rocha noted, They are a band that creates moments, not hits.

You should check out more Volta! This song isn't a great representation of their typical sound. I still love this song though.

From my favorite Mars Volta album, but that album needs to be consumed whole, it's hard to pick out one "section" of it and listen to just that.

Why y’all getting upset over the criticism of someone that’s not a critic the pint is the appreciation of the music and if you like various genres like I do you’ll learn to appreciate the talent.

Always loved the song but at the same time was always frustrated that it didn't build more. It always backed off when you though it would ramp up.

Probably the mildest Mars Volta song. Not a good introductory song but whatever. Here are some to really sink you teeth into: Inertiatic ESP, Eriatarka, Cicatriz, Cygnus…..Vismund Cygnus, Viscera Eyes.

This song doesn’t really convey their musical style, they are usually way more frantic and chaotic (in a good way)

If you want a better song that I think encapsulates The Mars Volta give the song “Take The Veil Cerpin Taxt” a spin. It’s the last song on their debut album. Much better than this song and personally I never cared for this song and it’s still decent 🤷🏻♂️

This is the last Volta song you should of reviewed. It's so lame it's their only song that got airplay. Now if you listen to a song like Roulette Dares you will probably have a panic attack.

The WORST first impression of The Mars Volta… this doesn’t accurately represent their catalogue at all. It’s one of very few tracks like it. Hopefully he ends up checking out more of their material.
