Spin-offs from that program included CAT/CT scanners that have saved countless lives, modern medical telemetry that's also saved countless lives, improvements in communications tech, and (in case you hadn't heard this one via the computer on your desk or the phone in your pocket) THE ENTIRE MICROCOMPUTER INDUSTRY. The LIFETIME cost of the Apollo program per U.S. citizen (in 1975) was less than 1/3 the cost of one ticket to the Super Bowl (about $710 in current dollars). Does THAT make it all okay? You're picking on one of the best bargains we taxpayers have ever gotten. I suspect you weren't even paying taxes back when the program was active yet you have benefited from it anyway.
