LIDAR technology has revealed the so much of the area that it's estimated that it will take over a hundred years to fully excavate the findings. It is so vast that that the population of the Maya had to have been from 17 - 20+ million . There are hundreds of temples that are engulfed in the forest's.

Beautiful place and interested story.White Bear (Hopi) in J.F Blumrich's book "Kasskara end the seven Worlds" said that there is a three-story building in Palenque, in which students were taught to communicate with the world of animals, plants and God. Each floor represented a higher degree of initiation.

Interesting, they stacked naturally flat stone very well and then cut large blocks. I guess you could say the small stone couldn't stand up to the jungle, so they used large blocks which started to sink and so they placed shims under them. Larger rock lasts longer but it sinks faster. I guess what's further below the surface is older. The digger you deep-the further back in history you go, usually. It's amazing it's still there in basically one piece. That place is amazing. I never knew they built so much. Egypt has magnificent structures but walking around in a jungle surrounded but structures yet to be uncovered probably makes you feel like an early explorer. That place still seems alive.

I did a trip in 2018 through the Yucatan and saw 12 Maya sites. Skipping Chichen Itza and Tulum is good advice. I wish I had known... Don't miss Ek Balam, Uxmal (and it's surrounding satellites) Edzna and Becan. Hardly any people.

I really loved it. Very few vendors and its in the jungle. The real jungle that has miles around it. The monkeys and lizards are often out on the ruins too. It's in the classic maya design unlike itza that is aztec-maya. The toltecs built over old itza. The heart land of the maya wasnt in the highlands of the South nor the lowlands of the coastal plains of the Yucatan and belize. Although they had many cities there, the jungle midlands with lakes, streams and rivers that stretch from oaxaca to the Belize coastal plain. You see other outposts in the jungles and coast plains but the group's are different. The itza, pokomom, tzotzil and others maya are more jungle the Yucatan maya peten and others are more coastal.

The history of the indigenous peoples in the Americas is much, much older than a few thousand years. We judge the Maya, Aztecs, Inca’s and others on the traces that we find. But when we dig our way from the present to the past, we must know that the Earth is suffering from a cycle of recurring natural disasters. That is told in the Popol Vuh and other books. These disasters create a cycle of civilizations. One is a high developed civilization that disappeared 20,000 years ago. Then there are four primitive civilizations. They were guided by alien deities. At a certain moment in time, those deities leave the people alone. Led by fanatic priests, the people start offering more and more often and from fruits and animals, they started offering children and humans. They knew that after death, new life would occur and they wanted the deities to return. That is how the Aztec are remembered, but once they were high educated. They left us the sun stone, which is a warning for this recurring disasters. To learn much more about the cycle of disasters and civilizations, recurring floods, ancient high tech and alien deities, read the e-book: "what I know about Nibiru". You can read it nicely on any computer, tablet or smartphone. Just search for: know Nibiru
