I still have the octopus! My parents bought the octopus and a lobster and whale for me out of a box during a visit to Cape Cod. I had no idea this playlet existed! Great review.

The octopus reminds me of Tentacles (1977), one of the many Jaws rip-offs of the Seventies.

I can see that. There were so many Jaws rip-offs. Alligators, Orcas, Octopi, etc. They were all pretty terrible. Anyway, thanks for the comment!

I can't believe I had no idea this was available as a kid; I'd have loved it so much. My Mego Pocket Heroes Aquaman and my older Adventure people water themed figures would've been worn out using this playset. Another cool video; thank's for making it.

Aquaman got a lot of play in this set, but so did Adventure People, G.I. Joe and Star Wars, when a water planet was called for. It just took a little imagination. It really should've been more prolific. A modern toy line has GOT to revisit this design. It is for the good of all humanity. Thanks for watching!

Holy $%@&!! If only I'd known this existed! That is so cool!! And I think I need to do a deep dive (a- Ha! Ha ha ha!) on Marx. That's a name that comes up in toy history for sure. I'm a sucker for cardboard playsets even now, too. I have a few modern ones such as the Kessel Mines and Mezco Batcave.

It really was a great playset and a neat idea that needs to be revisited. The late 70s and early 80s had to be the heyday for this kind of playset. Wrap it in plastic and you have the Star Fortress or the Mego Batcave, or build it in layers and you have Mego Wayne Manor, or slap it behind some molded plastic and you have...Star Wars. So many! As always, thanks for watching and thanks for your comments. You're great!

Incredibly hard playset to find. Thanks for the video!

It really is hard to find, but was very fun and innovative, yet still very simple. Those folks at Marx really set the standard in so many toy genres. Thanks for watching!

I had this toy!!! Sooooooo fun!!!!!! I lost the yellow action figures in my yard one year. So sad.

Noooooooooooo! Well, the set could be played with so many other toy lines, so I am sure it recovered. It really was a great set. But his loss will be felt for the rest of our days. Only time and the mower can find him now. Thanks for watching!

I actually had this set as a kid been trying to find it for years now. I couldn't remember who'd actually made it and thought it was a matchbox playset. Finding out it was made by Marx is even better. I had a blast playing with this set as a kid even adding the hard hat diver figure from adventure people along with the octopus he came with. Marx made the best playsets back in the day. my other favorite was Guns of Navarone never had that one but a kid down the street did many a late night was had assaulting that what seemed to me then a very large mountain. Funny seeing it as an adult thinking "Dam I thought that was so much bigger?" it wasn't I was just so much smaller haha

Yeah, it felt really big as a kid. I played with this set with a ton of different toy lines, but the Adventure People sea sets were probably the most used in conjunction with this playset. I loved this thing. Thanks for the comment.

@@thelittlethings3309 Me too buddy it had alot to do with sparking my interest in scuba diving. When I moved to Miami for 2yrs back in the early eighties that's the 1st thing I did get certified as a diver. Been blowin bubbles ever since.

I’m getting ready to post a video on this toy in the next day or so on my channel. I have a mint in the box set and I will show it in great detail. It was one of my favorite toys I’ve ever had and I stumbled upon one about 15 years ago.

That sounds great! I will be on the look out for it. I had one of these as a kid and used it for play with all kinds of action figures and creatures. You really have a treasure there. It was a great, very innovative toy. One of my favorite.

The figures remind me of Matchbox's smaller action figures from the late 1960's and early 1970's .
@thelittlethings330911 ай бұрын
Yeah, they were a direct descendant of those toys...and really the last of those offered. The last and one of the best. Thanks for watching!

Those figures look like Mobile Action Command

I was not familiar with Mobile Action Command, but you are right, they do look like MAC figures. Really close. Gotta wonder what happened there. Thanks for the comment.

Dern shame about Marx. This playset would've been perfect to sell as a GI Joe Bootleg if they just held out a few more years.
@thelittlethings3309 Жыл бұрын
Absolutely! This playset wasn't quite the right size, but I used it with G.I. Joe figs anyway. Just a slight size modification, and a little time, and I believe that this thing really would have held a special place in many people's toy memories. I think they could have even made a modified version with a spaceship on top (and a different background) for Space Sci Fi adventures. Thanks for the comment.

Why do you have to make everything political?

What can I say? I became member of the Whigs because I opposed Martin Van Buren. But J.K. Polk has really made me start to rethink everything. It's just such a tightly run election, with that song and everything.
