Hearing you play this song on the very guitar that Stan used to write it (and having seen this guitar in action on many occasions) is really special. I still perform his songs, when I can do so without choking up.

Thank you so much for sharing this. It brought tears to my eyes as I was looking for something to play as I try to learn to play myself (I think I'll start a bit less ambitious than a 12-string, though!). My daughter Ellen is named after this song and it's been one of our favourites. She's been the epitome of the song and is a neurosurgeon now - I like to think Stan would be proud. We sing it together whenever something bad is happening. Rise again!

Wow, this is absolutely incredible! It's really cool that you actually have the mans guitar. Really good stuff! The fact that this only has about 400 views baffle me

I've never played in DADGAD before, but I'm going to spend the next several days trying hard to figure out exactly what you're playing here so I can finally learn to play the song correctly. I've been playing it in standard tuning for years and it never quite sounds right.

Great video. Between the Breaks is still one of my favorites. Congratulations on your wedding anniversary. Question: I have a bootleg tape of one of Stan’s last performances. It was recorded in Chicago. The version of White Squall has different guitar part than the studio cut. Was that you on the guitar on either/both? Love your work!
@paulmills90053 жыл бұрын
Thanks! On the recording Stan is playing the 12-string guitar and I’m playing 6-string lead. I would not be on the Chicago recording.

Paul. Thank you for this true cover of one of the best songs written in Canada. DADGAD tuning. 12 string. Key of G. Use DADGAD chords in D with capo at V: I, IV, V & ii. Rest in peace Stan.

Aaah 'the masked luthier of Dupont Street' , isn't that what Grit Laskin calls himself? I took my Mom to a concert in the late fall of '79 in Kingston where Stan performed this piece and I think it's what helped lift my mother from her sadness due to the recent passing of my dad. An awesome concert shared with family, fond memories.
